Career Progression
Evening everyone
Just to stear this thread on a new course, can any EK crew tell me what career progression is in place for the company.
By this i mean, are cabin crew able to apply after a certain period of time for other positions within Emirates (internal transfers) or is their contract for cabin crew only and therefore unable to be transferred to "THE CORPORATE WORLD"

Gone U/S,
I have heard the same thing about progression. For example, if you don't want to just end up the top position in the cabin (I hink they cal it Chief Flight Stewardess or something similar) you can get jobs for example in the recruitment or even in the customer/market research side of things (cabin & galley design projects and such.)
Anyone else who went for interviews etc heard anything back?

Normal progression is ranked as ;
Grade 2 ( GR2). This is what you will start as.
Then ( GR1). You will/can work in business class
( FG1). You will work in First class
( SFS). Senior flight steward/ess. Responsible for a designated class of cabin ie economy or business.( Mainly economy)
Finally, ( PURSER). This is same as British Airways CSD ( Cabin services director). Overall in charge of Cabin Crew on aircraft.
EKCREW is correct as normally 12 months before applying for another position in Company. Normally find ,however, that few do as money tends not to be as good unless you have specific qualifications for a particular job.

As my Wife is involved with the recruitment dept., i'd like to think i've every reason to know about the selection procedure.

EK Interview in Singapore
Hi everyone
I'm new here, was surfing the internet searching for tips for my second interview with EK next Monday.
I realized that the recruitment process is completely different for the one i went through in singapore. I sent my application online and recieve an interview invitation 3 weeks later. At the interview, there were walk in applicants and online applicants. Had a group discussion in a group of ten and they shortlisted 3 from each group. Those walk in applicants, who was shortlisted was asked to attend a briefing the following day where as, we those online applicant was given a letter and told to attend a second interview on the date stated in the letter. Funny thing is, those who attended the briefing was given tips on the second interview.
I was wondering, any of you guys or girls have any idea whether ex-crew stand a higher chance to secure a cabin crew job with EK? as I was previously from Singapore Airlines. I very anxious and stressed over my upcoming interview next monday
Please help!

Cheezeflan....as much as I would like to think and to say that yes, current or ex-crews have an advantage....I don't feel comfortable to. At my assessment (same group interview) there was me, BA crew, and another 6 girls, all working for other airlines. None of us got through
I have stopped asking myself what they're looking for, what they might need etc, as things seem to change each and every day!!!!
I am sure you'll do fine though, being ex-crew or not. At least I will keep my fingers crossed for you
GOOD LUCK......break a leg!!!

Just got back from my 2nd EK Open day in SYD.
Much better organisation today, and the whole thing only took 2 hours.
I think the reason it varies so much is the team you get, and the number of applicants. Get rid of your expectations and negative attitudes, and just have fun and meet people.
Crossing fingers for the phone call tonight.

Oh God!! I am so sorry I just want to fly. Really EK are unpredictable!!! I know how bad it feels so I am here for you if you feel like getting it off your chest (PM me if you like).
I don't want to make it sound like 2nd best option, but have you tried with EY? Or, like me, do you have a "particular" love for EK?
I must admit, I have just applied to EY myself. And maybe it's just an impression, but starting from the application form, it looks so much more relaxed. Worth trying, I think
Take care.....

I was abit worried about EK not hiring gus, but at both open days I have been to, the question was raised, and they have stated that they do not have any directive from HQ as to males and females.
My main goal is EK. But maybe I should try EY.

2 minute interview...
well for my two minute interview..which wasn't actually two minutes it was a mere 30 seconds...went like this
"hannah what do you do at the moment?
"(not exact wording) well at the moment I am waiting to start training with the RAC"
(interrupted)
"oh ok, have you travelled before?"
"yes I have travelled personally and as cabin crew"
(interrupted)
"so you have been cabin crew?"
"yes with easyjet in the uk"
"why did you leave?"
"unfortunately it was for financial reasons..i found prices to high to live and work in london"
(interrupted)
"thanks hannah"
hmmm, made myself sound unemployed and broke hehe.
don't stress about what you said, some people hardly got to say anything at all cos the trainers were too preoccupied with their piercings, hair style or shoes hehe.
the two minute interview is designed to get a small idea about the person behind you resume. it is also a time when the trainers can look at the way you are dressed, whether you sit up in your seat, shake their hand, are polite when speaking... but they also know that you feel under pressure to impress them so relax and be yourself..thats all they want.
as for not hiring males..I don't think that is the case. 2 got through to the final interviews that I am aware of when I was there.
I just want to fly..don't worry mate. keep trying. If I were you I'd apply to other airlines too like I did and that helped a lot. I got a years flying experience behind me, customer service examples that related to the industry for the interviews and I knew the job was for me. If you want to work for EK as much I do, keep applying...you will get there!!
see ya guys

Thanks for the positive words.
I am a travel agent at the moment and really enjoy it, particularly the travelling, so I will just stick with that until I get into EK.
I guess we all feel a little impatient and frustrated. We want it so much, and know we will be really good, but it's a matter of convincing them....
I WILL get in... I WILL get in...

Bonjour dino330!
Bienvenue chez pprune!
The Open Days are for everyone that is interested in becoming cabin crew with Emirates.
They will make you sit an English exam, and then conduct some brief interviews. There are usually a large number of people there, but you don't need an invitation.
Be positive, be prepared, but don't get your hopes up. I have been twice and haven't gotten through...
Write your online application number at the top of your resume, as they like to know your details are on file.
Bon chance!
