Might it be Risalpur ?

dook 12th Feb 2020 20:28

Possibly Nowshera or Jodhpur.

JENKINS 12th Feb 2020 20:41

The permanence of the WW2 buildings leads me to consider Drigh Road.

Asturias56 12th Feb 2020 20:51

Neither of the above - we are in the Sub-continent tho'

A little diversion........

Whe I first saw the picture I thought it might be RAF Kallang, Singapore, but then realised the 'tower' was too high but was sure it was Far East post-war. Whilst looking at some of the Indian airfields around Calcutta I found this -
I commend it, despite the length, for the historical info and the story of the death of the only Fighter Command pilot to be awarded the VC in the BoB

Still very much operational.. also one of those Indian loan words that entered the English language is associated with this spot

24 hours up - dook got it with Jodhpur - the local Maharaja was a big force in developing flying in India both pre & post war...

Hi dook, I think that could be Weston (Republic of Ireland, not super-Mare).

Duchess_Driver 13th Feb 2020 18:47

I can see where you’re coming from, but that’s not Weston...

dook 13th Feb 2020 19:02

Not Oirland to be sure.

evansb 13th Feb 2020 19:43

The aircraft in the middle is an SIAI-Marchetti 205 20/R. I am of no help at all. The South of Spain?

dook 14th Feb 2020 08:38

Yes evansb.

Asturias56 14th Feb 2020 08:56

Is the tower still there or has it been replaced? - a lot of Spanish airports have had substantial upgrades

dook 14th Feb 2020 13:04

The tower still exists.

Asturias56 14th Feb 2020 16:32

are we near the sea?? - say within 20 kms?

dook 14th Feb 2020 17:08

Yes - 5 kms.

dook 14th Feb 2020 17:22

Not Valencia I'm afraid.

The challenge no longer exists.

dook 14th Feb 2020 18:29

This is the surviving tower.
