Then we are back in France...but not in ancient times - the aircraft era is at odds with the hangar designs...

I'd say that photo was taken in the 60's/ 70's?

Mind you - this is a rather splendid Cote du Rhone that I'm sipping from whilst preparing my repast; so forgive if increasingly meaningless RT.
.--. .. ... ... . -..

dook 29th Feb 2020 19:45

The photograph is from WW1 and we are indeed in France again.

e-mail for you on a different subject.

Auxtank 29th Feb 2020 19:57

eM- received.
Going wild on this; it's not that funny little place on the outskirts of Paris is it?
Is it St Cyr-L'ecole...? (I have landed there - and on the strength of my landing, I was not permitted to TO)

dook 29th Feb 2020 20:05

It was not on the outskirts of Paris

Auxtank 1st Mar 2020 19:36

Chalky under-soil - we are in Normandy?

dook 1st Mar 2020 19:43

Mais monsieur, dans mon experience le Pas-De-Calais c'est NE de Normandie, non?

dook 1st Mar 2020 20:26

Apologies.

Say after me " dook is a dik".....

No, no, no my dear fellow.
You just have to give that old compass a good swing now and again. :E

So Pas-De-Calais eh?

How about Saint-Inglevert then?

dook 1st Mar 2020 20:48

Now go SE (yes - SE) but not too far.

I'm hesitant to go anywhere with that bloody compass you're using mate!
How about some GPS coordinates?
I want to go running back to the safe Magenta Line...

Auxtank 1st Mar 2020 21:15

Looks like an old WW1 airstrip about 1 click due East (I say again, East) of Audembert?

dook 1st Mar 2020 21:41

54 miles SE.

Auxtank 1st Mar 2020 21:55

Possible d'Avesne-le-Comte.
That's a wild guess until I pull my charts/ books out in the morning...

dook 1st Mar 2020 21:58

Don't bother.

A direct hit with d'Avesne-le-Comte.

Your runway. :ok:

Very neat fence, looks new.
Fresly ploughed field beside runway (i assume)
is this a new extension to an existing airfield?

Flatened hills.
I assume Europe?
Ardennes
Harz

Nah, Bear - that's Canada. (It's the light)
