Not Adriatic
Not so much going on really

dook 5th Feb 2020 10:44

Out of the box and lateral.

Elisicilia I think.

Self loading bear 5th Feb 2020 13:45

What do you mean by lateral?

dook 5th Feb 2020 14:33

As in lateral thinking.

Self loading bear 5th Feb 2020 16:09

Yes lateral thinking I understand

the solving of problems by an indirect and creative approach, typically through viewing the problem in a new and unusual light.

I am most interested in your creative approach or what unusual light you have applied?

Elisilicia It is
The good weather flight test Centre of Leonardo.
Currently also guest to the flight testing of the Kopter SH09.
There is also 1 offshore platform which is being served from here.

Dook has control

I'd suspect it was the number of spots and the general professional look of the place - it certainly struck me that it might be an oil field support facility - and there aren't THAT many offshore fields in the Med ('cept off Egypt)

dook 6th Feb 2020 12:59

Rather lucky to find it. I stumbled across the hangar after Asturias led me to try Italy.

Asia? looks permanent

dook 6th Feb 2020 16:35

Neither Asturias.

Dora-9 6th Feb 2020 18:31

Darwin/Civil? Not to be confused with the current Darwin/Winnelie. OH if correct....

dook 7th Feb 2020 13:13

Dora-9 has it.

Was known as Parap.

OH has been called.

Dora-9 7th Feb 2020 19:02

In my defence, that photo shows it when it was used by the RAAF (notice all the huts) and I think that they referred to it as Darwin/Civil.

dook 7th Feb 2020 19:22

Seems to depend on the source - that's why I gave you the win.

No doubt some purist here will say you didn't name the aerodrome but I'm not pedantic.

Asturias56 8th Feb 2020 12:47

From the past - but still in use I think

Looks typically RAF - lots of those designs around.

Little Snoring fits.

dook 8th Feb 2020 16:44

RAF Chalgrove is still used by Martin Baker.

The Germans obviously had a 'standard pattern' for military barrack blocks; the Hotel Kapitan in Sczcecin (which is now in Poland but was in Germany pre WW2) where I once stayed on my first visit visit to Poland is identical in design and it used to be a German Army Barracks.
