shadow shows relatively low latitude ie lower 48 and possibly southern states. Flat old lake bed? with substantial mountains to EAST - so probably not the plains side of the Rockies

Big snow so not S Arizona or California - maybe Utah/Wyoming??

Salt Lake City?

Asturias56 1st Jul 2019 07:15

I think it might be Hill AFB, Ogden Utah

"Following American entry into World War II in December 1941, Hill Field quickly became an important maintenance and supply base, with round-the-clock operations geared to supporting the war effort. Battle-worn warplanes like the A-26, B-17, B-24, B-29, P-40, P-47, P-61, were sent to Hill Field for structural repairs, engine overhauls, and spare parts. The peak wartime employment at Hill Field was reached in 1943 with a total of just over 22,000 military and civilian personnel. "

Asturias56 has it with Hill AFB. I thought that the mountains would be a give away.

dook was wondering why the aircraft was sat on it's tail, he missed the ones in the following image that were sat on their noses.

The mountains helped but it was actually the shadow and realizing the base had to be VERY close to the mountains... and such a range of aircraft..................... so not a factory and probaly not a n active fighting location - some sort of facility for repair, upgrade etc etc............... :ok:

Try this bucolic location..................

Morning Asturias, and well done on the last challenge.

I think I see water top right and maybe a beach bottom left.

An island or peninsula ?

Asturias56 1st Jul 2019 09:04

On an island .................................... small but has occasional international flights
