OK....UK...?

dook 17th May 2019 16:32

UK it is.....

chevvron 17th May 2019 17:09

I'll have a stab with Westcott.

dook 17th May 2019 17:11

Not Westcott.

sycamore 17th May 2019 18:36

Is the long feature across the picture a canal...?

dook 17th May 2019 19:00

It's a road.

The airfield is still identifiable on GE.

kaikohe76 17th May 2019 19:52

If the road is the old A1, the position of the airfield is not unlike Dishforth, although more runways than I can remember.

dook 17th May 2019 19:54

It's a B road unfortunately.

Only in use from 1942 to 1946.

edit: it was never used for it's intended purpose.

Kieron Kirk 17th May 2019 21:03

Snetterton Heath.

dook 17th May 2019 21:16

Snetterton was in use until 1948 and the challenge was exclusively RAF.

dook 18th May 2019 08:33

A GE view orientated north. Further clue shortly.

Calveley, near Nantwich.

Originally intended as a fighter defence airfield for the Mersey area but not used as such.

OH if correct.

Ripton 18th May 2019 09:06

So the long feature across the picture is both a road (A51) and a canal (Shopshire Union Canal Main Line)?

dook 18th May 2019 09:32

lauriebe has identified Calveley.

He has called OH.

Can I drop this one in thanks? Can get a bit windy here at times & a little more activity these days.

dook 18th May 2019 10:41

South America ?

kaikohe76 18th May 2019 11:05

Hi Dook, right hemisphere, but not South America

dook 18th May 2019 11:20

Then it must be southern Africa or the antipodean lands of roos and kiwis.

Time to fire up Google earth and have a look around.

kaikohe76 18th May 2019 11:26

One of those spots.
