I think it might be something to do with the great Aussie cricketer , Keith Miller who described a Messerschmitt up ones behind as real pressure..... |
Yes, getting close, a contemporary needed. Shall I ginger you up, or go shopping for an hour?
Miller, Great Massingham, Princess Margaret, and so on. |
So could it be Mungalalu Truscott Air Base, Western Australia
Yes it could. 'Bluey' Truscott, ginger of course. Difficult to appreciate how open was that coast in WW2.
All yours. |
My thanks to sidthesexist for the pointer, and my neighbour's son who has been working out of there recently.
So here's another challenge - could be interesting (possibly). Apart from saying definitely East of Aden, no more verbal clues! https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....ab6d688606.jpg |
RAF Masirah?
Or Salalah.
Neither - further East
If it's WG533 it might have been Changi, but that's too green.
Diego Garcia...?
It could be WG533 - I didn't record aircraft letters with serial numbers - but not Changi, although it was on the Squadron at the time. Not DG either
Gan perhaps?
Not Gan. Away now for a few hours, but if no correct answers another photo to muddy the waters on return.
204 Squadron ?
205 on fuselage, and nose code letter seems correct.
Typo old chap.
I wonder if this was on your trip to the USA, I believe there was one. Awful lot of muddy water to investigate.
Somewhere in Vietnam...
The structures behind the Shack look to be of US design. So, a wild guess; Clark AFB?
He said it is east of the Arabian peninsula bases.
I would say the USA is west, unless you like going the long way round. Majunga ? |
