RAF Hartford Bridge = Blackbushe
|
That'll teach me to boast!!
Blackbushe it is - I'd been through it many times but it was only when posting that picture with the snow (Jan 2018 IIRC) that I checked the history - which is amazing! See https://www.blackbusheairport.co.uk/history/ Also astounded that it has never been a challenge according to the spreadsheet!! https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....8360d8e8a5.jpg |
I did look at the FW Condors before the ju52. In combination with a hunch towards an airport on Iceland or Faeroer. But as only 1 was operated by a Danish airline and already crashed in 1946 I thought the possibilty to be too remote. Nice Challenge! SLB |
I'll try a slightly unusual angle, which might last seconds...
The aircraft should give it away - the Bf109, not my 'superb' Jodel in the backbground by the way... (sorry, can't shrink the image). https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....0272c0273.jpeg |
That looks like the rare and well-known two seater (Buchon).
|
Zirchow on the Island Usedom in Germany? SLB |
Belgium Brasschaat ?
|
I think it is G-AWHC possibly at La Ferte-Alais.
|
Duxford? Just after 'the film' was made.

SLB sort of has it, he's (or she's) got the right physical location but the aerodrome is actually called Heringsdorf.
You have control SLB. (Well that didn't last long did it). |
Apologies, I tapped the airfield in Google Maps but it gave only Erlebniswelt Hangar 10 as tag. Hangar 10 did the restauration of two seat bf109. Roll out was in 2016? Return to flight? Warbirds Just found this postcard https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....eb11881a0.jpeg Return to sender? SLB |
TU104 so east Europe or Russia.
|
That 2 seat 109 has flown with both DB power and Merlin power. When I visited last summer she was doing touch and goes on the grass runway (under RR Merlin power) as we joined the circuit and landed on the hard. She taxied in after we'd entered the Hanger 10 facility. They also have two airworthy single seat DB powered Bf109s in there plus lots of other superb German aircraft (and a Mk 18 Spitfire and a P51D Mustang).
Don't know where that Tupolev is... |
That's a large terminal building for that era so I think we're looking at an important city here. I've a feeling that the Tu134 might be a red herring and we aren't in what was the Soviet Bloc?
Helsinki? |
And if it's any help to the next contestant, I think that's a LOT Tu134 (I'm a bit more confident on that than I am on Helsinki) :)
|
The differences between the Tu 104 and the Tu 134 are in the T-Tail, Tail engines and not having a centreline window (that all is for the T-134) Oh, and it is not in Helsinki SLB |
For the night and morning shifts.
If you Google Tu-134 airport postcard you will find your answer. http://i64.tinypic.com/108fz3a.jpg |
Hmmm, could it be Warsaw?
|
Oops, Dook beat me to it by one minute!
