You going to list each one?
Or do you want confirmation that it is or isn't in Tunisia :)

:D

Made my day...

dook 16th Nov 2018 18:12

Why don't you join in and find it Sam Asama.

nvubu 16th Nov 2018 18:14

Ok...…. It isn't in Tunisia

Sam Asama 16th Nov 2018 18:28

I've been looking, dook. (But it's 4:30 am where I am and after staying up to chat with friends and family in various other parts of the planet, I'm off to get some sleep.) Good luck!

nvubu 16th Nov 2018 20:59

It isn't Cairo West or Payne Airfield.

grizzled 16th Nov 2018 21:12

Abu Sueir?

nvubu 16th Nov 2018 21:18

It isn't Abu Sueir either.

I said earlier that I had some photos of aircraft at the airfield, so here's the first one.

I might have misled you with an earlier answer re Military and civilian.

On further reading, it wasn't used for civilian flights - i.e. only military aircraft here, but it was run by civilians - hence not looking military.

Off out this morning. more photos/replies @ lunchtime.

Somewhere near Khartoum?

kenparry 17th Nov 2018 10:18

USAAF aircraft in Africa including Curtiss fighters: surely something to do with Operation Torch. Three invasion landing areas, in Morocco and Algeria. the most Easterly was around Algiers. How about Maison Blanche, which was Algiers' civil airport and became a major military base?

dook 17th Nov 2018 10:35

Have we not been told that it is not Algeria in post #9812?

Hen Ddraig 17th Nov 2018 10:55

Could this be Marrakesh, major entry and transit point for the 12th air force?

HD

kenparry 17th Nov 2018 11:10

dook, you are right. Morocco, then, surely? I will try Casablanca Anfa

dook 17th Nov 2018 11:20

I've been looking around there too.

Possibly Nouasseur air base.

nvubu 17th Nov 2018 12:11

We are not in Morocco - or near Khartoum, although Khartoum is closer than Morocco.

The Americans agreed to be based here BEFORE 7th December 1941,

dook 17th Nov 2018 12:44

North Africa is almost exhausted.

I know this sounds very silly, but the Americans did have a base in what is now Israel.

nvubu 17th Nov 2018 12:49

Maybe it isn't in North Africa :ok:

But it is in Africa.

dook 17th Nov 2018 13:01

Sudan...….?
