It isn't in the Sudan.

Few more images, which may give you some guidance.

These were shipped here
https://1sqkqa.db.files.1drv.com/y4m...&cropmode=none
And became these

But they also dealt with this:

Frustration is setting in. The only US forces I have found in Africa during WW2 were those in Torch and the subsequent push Eastwards.

nvubu 17th Nov 2018 13:20

Remember, the base was run by civilians, not US forces.

You said no to Takoradi but was it on the Takoradi route ?

If so, it went through Nigeria and French Equatorial Africa.

nvubu 17th Nov 2018 14:09

Not Lagos. Khartoum is closer than Nigeria.

dook 17th Nov 2018 14:16

French Equatorial Africa ?

Or maybe eastern Chad.

nvubu 17th Nov 2018 14:24

Not in French Equatorial Africa either.

This airfield had a hospital
https://blgzka.db.files.1drv.com/y4m...&cropmode=none

Also quite a few warehouses.

dook 17th Nov 2018 14:27

But was Chad a hopeful ?

If not then it's not on the Takoradi route.

nvubu 17th Nov 2018 14:32

As you say - it isn't on the Takoradi Route.

You'll get there in the end, not too many more countries to go :)

Look closer at a couple of the images I've posted:

#9824 The tangled metal in the foreground. Can the aircraft be identified from it? (I can't, but one of you may do so)

#9838 The Hudson on the transporter

nvubu 17th Nov 2018 14:45

Ah ha - crossed with Jenkins.
Not in Sudan.
The Hudson has a clue to the country in its history.

nvubu 17th Nov 2018 15:16

Yes - you are in the correct country now.

dook 17th Nov 2018 15:21

That's taken me to Italian Eritrea !!!!!

edit: too late for the country.

Gura ?

nvubu 17th Nov 2018 15:48

Well done dook - Gura
Well done Jenkins - and the Douglas Aircraft Company - not very military looking
https://rfbwpq.db.files.1drv.com/y4m...&cropmode=none

and the secret base - Project 19. If you go onto GE, you can still see the outline shown below. And you can work out approximately where the Indian soldier was standing.

Over to you dook - by 2 minutes.

I hope you all enjoyed the romp through Africa :ok:

grizzled 17th Nov 2018 16:22

:ok:

dook 17th Nov 2018 16:23

nvubu 17th Nov 2018 16:41

We still in Africa then?

dook 17th Nov 2018 16:57

We am not in dat place mon, but we am not too far away.

dook 17th Nov 2018 17:26

Having flown there for five years you've now made me feel ill.

Not there though.
