I know that Tarifa in Andalusia is a big windsurfing destination, don't know if there's ever been an airfield there, though...

Maybe it's worth looking towards the East.

This challenge has been up for the best part of a week and seems to be going nowhere.

I have been trying to find it for a long time and have tried as far east as Italy.

Perhaps it is now time for a decent clue to get things moving.

It is Alıcatı which is most definitely in Asia. It shows up well on GE but I didn't want to post an overhead except as a last resort. I tried to get close enough for a ground level shot but the access road was far too rough for one of Mr Avis' finest. I discovered recently that a tender went out for a replacement for this strip and one of three tenders was accepted. A local contact tells me that it will be built in the same location but I can't help feeling there must be somewhere better. Construction will start next year.
