Heh, heh. Catalina was a valid answer but not necessarily correct. :}

chevvron 11th Apr 2008 19:42

What looks like a Bedford fire truck in the fire station plus a Land Rover nearby, so maybe somewhere in Africa?

twochai 11th Apr 2008 19:57

Right on, Chevrron, keep going with your line of thought.

Would Durban be getting warmer?

pigboat 11th Apr 2008 20:24

Excuse another pigboat, but it really was the best of the boats.
But of course. :O

The airplane is CF-JJG belonging to Kenting. Dar-es-Salaam?

norwich 11th Apr 2008 20:29

I'm jumping in with Lusaka, Northern Rhodesia, (Zambia). ???? Keith.

twochai 11th Apr 2008 20:34

It is JJG (but not Kenting when I flew it) 43 years past. Not Tanzania, nor SA, nor Zambia.

norwich 11th Apr 2008 20:37

If I said Queensland Au, Would I be warmer or freezing ???? Keith.

twochai 11th Apr 2008 20:42

Well, definitions of 'warm' being relative around here, Keith, I'd say you were freezing cold! Stick to the dark continent.

We're running out of countries. Looks tidy enough. Vic Falls? [Rhodesia?]

twochai 11th Apr 2008 21:37

You're not running out of countries yet, plenty more to go. Look West, young man!

sabredog 11th Apr 2008 22:12

Freetown airport?

Taking you literally, could it be Kasane? [Never been there.]

By the way, it's definitely not Lungi (Freetown).

twochai 11th Apr 2008 23:19

Not Sierra Leone; you've overshot, somewhat!

Normally a tranquil trading/university city, it later was the opening scene of tumultuous events which commenced a few weeks after the photo was taken late in 1965.

norwich 11th Apr 2008 23:42

that sounds like Kinshasa ???

Dan D'air 11th Apr 2008 23:53

Sorry about the Catalina joke fellas, I just couldn't resist!! :O

Somewhere in Angola maybe?? Or do I need to look further North?

twochai 12th Apr 2008 01:09

What Catalina jokes?? Its a Canso, nothing funny about that!

Not Congo/Zaire/DRC/whatever, not Angola. Think Empirically.

pigboat 12th Apr 2008 03:08

Entebbe perchance?

twochai 12th Apr 2008 03:20

Entebbe? Good try, but no.

How do I say it more precisely, gents? WEST AFRICA!

Speedpig 12th Apr 2008 03:48

Banjul, Gambia?

Gambia achieved indendence from Britain in 1965.
