Sorry, can't continue with the poetry!

That's blowing snow streaming across the runway!

Roland Pulfrew 30th Jan 2008 10:23

Dan

The picture hasn't appeared.

I'm guessing Goose Bay in winter!! ;)

Regards

Bl**dy hell. Correct! Five minutes - and without the picture! Well done Roly. You must have seen a similar view more than once in your career.

The picture should have appeared by now. It didn't at first because I had named it in photobucket with an expletive to suggest it was very cold. It appears pprune stops expletives - even in links. It does fit the criteria for being historic as it was taken from a Victor about tenty years ago.

It is indeed Goose. Taken on an exercise 'Snow Goose' the aim of which was to perfect operating in cold weather. Exercise 'Practice Bleeding' if there ever was one! having said that, I've been flying around China for the last week, and the experience of Snow Goose has been very useful!

Best regards, and you have control.

D@mn

The first time I get one of these right and I haven't got any suitable pictures on this new laptop. Can everyone wait until I get back tonight?

Dan

It was a wild guess and I would have got the aircraft type wrong, I assumed VC10K, but it had to be Goose!!

LFT 30th Jan 2008 20:01

Is it coming up or going down ? ;)

Background Noise 30th Jan 2008 20:03

Scunthorpe as viewed from Humberside?

Roland Pulfrew 30th Jan 2008 20:06

Coming up!!

And no, not Humberside.

Background Noise 30th Jan 2008 20:14

So, looking the other way - Fenton?

Roland Pulfrew 30th Jan 2008 20:45

Damn! Less than 30 minutes!!! And I thought it would be quite tricky. I should have said not Scunthorpe. Church Fenton taken from 3 hangar looking towards D, E, F.....Drax, or was it Eggborough power station, sometime close to the winter solstice.

What gave it away?

Background Noise over to you.

Background Noise 30th Jan 2008 20:56

It just looked like that part of the world - well lincs/south yorks - often seen at low level but not usually that early. Had to be somewhere with industry/power stn either east or west. Haven't got the old pics I'm after yet from my dad - the only other one I have to hand is only a month old so I guess its OPEN HOUSE.

REF 30th Jan 2008 21:37

if nobody minds I'll jump in with this one;

Tiger_mate 30th Jan 2008 22:10

evansb 31st Jan 2008 01:48

Historic? Nostalgic?

Phileas Fogg 31st Jan 2008 02:29

It looks like 'virgin' tarmac as if it's never been used ..... very Historic :)

evansb 31st Jan 2008 05:15

Quite right.

Speedpig 31st Jan 2008 05:41

But where?

REF 31st Jan 2008 06:55

Not middle east but it is north of the equator

Fishtailed 31st Jan 2008 08:32

Probably somewhere in the USA, howabout Alamogordo, White Sands, New Mexico?
