Not SLC.

Only the left part os the terminal was there in the late 1950s when I boarded at this airport. The larger, right, part was built in the 1960s, I think.

Isn't that a DC-8 with two jetways attached?

Las Vegas?

Not Lost Wages.

All the recent guesses have been too far west - but it is in the Mountain Time Zone.

MancRed 21st Jul 2007 00:03

sfo?.................

seacue 21st Jul 2007 00:14

No, Jarvis, San Francisco is in the Pacific Time Zone.

Here is a HUGE hint. This terminal no longer exists.

The former Denver Stapleton International.

BINGO!

StbdD has it with ....

The former Denver Stapleton International. Serving "The mile-high city of Denver at the foot of the towering snow-capped Rockies".

Only the control tower and a parking garage remain. The rest of the old airport is being converted into residential, retail, etc. It would appear from StbdD's photo that the control tower is gone unless it is out of the picture to the right.

StbdD now has control.

Alas, I have no picture ready for posting so I'll re-open the floor for the next submission.

An extremely simple one to keep things moving while our UK friends are asleep.

I'd be surprised if this isn't identified in the first couple of guesses.

Pan Am's original base at Coral Gables? If it is, the hangers are still up but there's a huge marina there now and no palm trees (at least not since Andrew).

seacue 21st Jul 2007 02:45

And the terminal building is Miami's City Hall.

The floor is yours ICT_SLB

ICT_SLB 21st Jul 2007 02:58

Curses! The one time I actually get one right & I haven't any photos (at least in a web-friendly form) - the floor, as Mel often says, is open.

To continue the Pan Am thread, I picked up an original paperback a couple of years back detailing the setting up of the China Clipper route - it's arguable that the later victory in the Pacific was due in no small part to their pioneering efforts.
