No takers? I originally posted it on an appropriate date, (UTC).

StbdD 27th Jan 2008 18:18

Lots of folding wings there. Is/was this a naval aviation facility?

sabredog 27th Jan 2008 18:28

Clinton Naval Air Station ,Burns Flats.Oklahoma?

Herod 27th Jan 2008 20:35

RAAF? Possibly Richmond or Sale?

evansb 27th Jan 2008 21:22

Not RAAF. It is a naval airfield. It is not located in the United States.

No problem Bri. I was going on what appears to be Chance Vought Corsairs in your photographs and the USN involvement in the Korean War.

evansb 27th Jan 2008 22:58

The airfield was involved to a degree by the Korean Conflict.

India Four Two 28th Jan 2008 00:12

Not RAAF.
Being tricky, Bri? ;)

How about RAN? Nowra, HMAS Albatross.

evansb 28th Jan 2008 02:11

India Four Two is spot on:ok: Well done:D HMAS Albatross, Nowra, is Australia's last remaining naval air base. I posted the photo on January 26th, Australia Day.
Over to you.

India Four Two 28th Jan 2008 08:51

I completely missed the Australia Day reference.

Here are a couple of photos of an airfield near where I used to live, although taken a bit before my time:

Well done, SD. BNE it is. This piece of the airfield is no longer in use. The new terminals and runways built in the 80s are further east.

sabredog 28th Jan 2008 15:34

Thank you India Four Two. The squadron markings gave me a good lead!
The photograph must have been taken in early Spring'44, as shortly afterwards they deployed to Saidor, New Guinea.
Give my regards to the Rex Hotel when next in Saigon/Ho Chi Min City .
Open House ,Gentlemen.
