Mr_Grubby 28th Nov 2005 09:43

Doh !!!! too slow again.

cringe 28th Nov 2005 09:58

How about Airspeed Envoy or Courier ?

682al 28th Nov 2005 10:14

cringe gets it!

It's the Airspeed Envoy, very Rapide like in style and I thought it might mislead some.

Over to cringe?

cringe 28th Nov 2005 10:31

682al,

No time at the moment, so l suggest we solve your other mystery first. :)

ORAC 28th Nov 2005 11:20

I´m guessing one of the Handley Pages, maybe the Harrow?

682al 28th Nov 2005 12:40

Not the Harrow, and not a H.P. product.

This design was built in tiny numbers, but the cockpit bears a family resemblance to a famous relation... :hmm:

MReyn24050 28th Nov 2005 12:59

Just a guess Vickers Victoria?

682al 28th Nov 2005 13:10

Sorry MReyn24050, not Victoria (much smaller) or any Vickers product.

So, not H.P., not Vickers, and I've already done Airspeed...

Armstrong-Whitworth Argosy

Post WWI airliner, when even the Vimy had one joystick that could be handed over to the co-pilot in flight. Lack of engine instruments a puzzle, and no cockpit glazing a little unfair.

Open cockpit, closed cockpit??? Clue maybe in lieu of proper photo.

cringe 28th Nov 2005 13:50

De Havilland Dolphin ?

682al 28th Nov 2005 15:35

Neither Armstrong Whitworth nor de Havilland.

Vertically reading RPM Indicators may be seen in the photo, also (just) the tops of the throttle levers, indicating two engines.

The cockpit was fully enclosed and the apparent absence of magneto switches may be linked to the photo editing....

MReyn24050 28th Nov 2005 16:09

That doesnt leave many left. Perhaps it is either a Short, Blackburn or Saunders Roe. Another wild guess Blackburn Kangaroo. However on second thoughts the Short Singapore 1 (G-EBUP). The later Singapore III being more famous. Although the cockpit was open. However the S5 had an enclosed cockpit.

ORAC 28th Nov 2005 16:45

As a possibility is Bristol.

682al 28th Nov 2005 16:53

Not Bristol, Shorts or Blackburn :{

Here's it's interior...

Edited to add Saunders Roe to the "not" list!

cringe 28th Nov 2005 17:54

Percival Q.6 ?

Saab Dastard 28th Nov 2005 18:53

Is it a Miles Gemini? Or an Avro Anson?

MReyn24050 28th Nov 2005 19:07

Boulton Paul P.64

682al 28th Nov 2005 19:12

Or an Avro Anson?
err...."ish" :hmm:

MReyn24050 28th Nov 2005 19:32

Perhaps the Avro 642 or 652 the predecessor of the Anson?
