MReyn24050 could be right:

MReyn24050 is indeed correct! It's the Avro 652 produced for Imperial Airways and adapted to become the 652a Anson.

The similarity to the Anson cockpit is there and had the cockpit glazing been evident, I'm sure it wouldn't have been too difficult.

I'll withdraw and watch from a safe distance.

In that case, this was the type in question (previous photo of an Avro 642):

BTW, great challenge. :ok:

MReyn24050 29th Nov 2005 06:12

I agree that was a great challenge 628al.

Unforunately I havent immediate access to a similar worthy challenge today so please anyone feel free to pose the next challenge.

MReyn24050 29th Nov 2005 09:53

Bristol 170 Freighter? Hope the move goes well Mike.

MReyn24050 29th Nov 2005 10:15

Rather you than me Mike. I had enough of that when I was in the Services, however old habits die hard I still find myself saving any the packing boxes when buying any new kit in case they are needed.

The windows gave me the clue. I am sure that this one will also be solved as quickly.

Looks like a DC2 perhaps?

MReyn24050 29th Nov 2005 11:19

Sorry 682al. Not a DC2.

682al 29th Nov 2005 11:44

Second guess...Lockheed 10?

brickhistory 29th Nov 2005 11:52

Maybe Boeing 247?

MReyn24050 29th Nov 2005 11:56

Well done 628al. It is indeed a Lockheed Electra 10.

ORAC 29th Nov 2005 11:58

Well its a Douglas, C-33?

MReyn24050 29th Nov 2005 12:33

No sorry, Orac it is the Lockheed Electra 10 as stated by 628al

Very similar I will grant you

682al 29th Nov 2005 12:46

Well if it's my turn again, I'll try something a little more straightforward than the Avro 652.

Lots of clues in this one.

brickhistory 29th Nov 2005 12:47

oops! deleted my entry immediately after seeing 682's new one.

DH Vampire?

682al 29th Nov 2005 13:18

Nope, sorry brickhistory.

MReyn24050 29th Nov 2005 13:29

My first choice is the forward cockpit of the Boulton Paul Defiant

682al 29th Nov 2005 13:33

Hmmm, I think I see some of your reasoning MReyn24050 but no, it's not the Defiant.

MReyn24050 29th Nov 2005 13:38

Lack of apparant gunsight and firing bezel makes me think it is a training aircraft. Second choice Miles Master

cringe 29th Nov 2005 13:47

Gloster E28/39 ?
