I'll withdraw that one... I just checked my photos and it isn't Kharkov but it is ex-USSR (maybe still Russian). Check out the cyrillic Airport above the entrance. Could be one of hundreds!

I have been advised by PM that this was a standard design for the Ukraine and subsequently checked this out with some other images on the web. Its actually Lvov = Lviv = Lwow but Chelyabinsk for example is nearly identical. So to make matters simple - Ridge Runner you have control ....

Sorry, no.

It was the first airport for this city, which now has a larger one. It is still an operational airfield though.

The first clue did it !. i had been trying to narrow it down by trying to read whether the big biplane (Handley Page ?) had G-E for Imperial or O-B for SABENA markings . Here is another pre-1939...........Doug

Not Vienna - this was this city's second international airport and remains so today, including limited use of this building.
