Which Aerodrome Mk II
Jack's Granddad
Sorry, not Chingford or Old Sarum.
Between the wars the field was used by the County Flying Club:
There was some military activity in early WW2 then it closed. The hangar survived until about 1970 or so when it was severely damaged in a storm. Some station buildings can still be identified including the Officer's Mess and the combined chapel/NAAFI.

YESS!!!!!
Bekesbourne near Canterbury it is. Used by 50 sqn during WW1 to defend the capital against raids by Zeppelins and Gotha bombers.
Wing Cmdr Arthur Harris became the squadron CO in December 1918.
Very special mention I suggest for Ridge Runner (that bloke quietly sobbing in the corner over there) for the huge effort he put in. Also to 'Terrence' who got the right answer to me by pm.
Well done handsfree, you have control,

Nothing to offer, so I think it only right that Ridge Runner gets the honour of the next challenge as he was so close on several occasions. (50 Sqn was A T Harris's next posting after 44 at Hainhault Farm)
Really enjoyed that, thanks. Learnt a lot.

Thanks RG! As you can see, I eventually worked it out!!! So, everyone, I'll leave this modern challenge to you........ An interesting place as there are mountains at both ends and you approach down the valley between the houses! The spiralling departure is fun too!
