Meanwhile in Tge Australian today, BHP train drivers in the Pilbara get a rise in basic pay from the current $250K to $300K over the next 5 years. Plus a $40K retention bonus.
Article also states train drivers are routinely paid up to $300K now and with some getting $400K.
Now that is some gravy train!

In these days of social media perhaps there is somewhere else you can do this, otherwise there will be flame wars here or worse.
Mods are flying too and not able to constantly monitor this so please understand and don't cross that particular line or the whole forum will probably get closed down.

Guys this is a really important subject and needs to be discussed, but if it goes down the road of 35 years ago I will have to lock it.

I believe you Network guys and girls meet with the QLink CEO tomorrow.
She will spin the same stuff they've told every other subsidiary in the last 15 years: there is a set cost. Contracts cost a set amount and they cannot go above this set cost. Basically; their strategic imperative. The same spin Tino (former international CEO) threatened long haul pilots with or risk losing the a350. The difference is they have not once used the term strategic imperative. They've distanced themselves from this word as it's effectiveness dried up with the a350 threats and later the 321XLR.
Set cost is a them problem especially during record profits.
You have the power. The pilot shortage is real and the market for our skills world wide is strong. They have no choice but to increase the cost of the exploitation bubble they so desperately want to trick you into operating within.
Don't budge. They have no legitimate moves to make. It's all a bluff from them. Your skills are in high demand. Let them make their scary threats: It's all empty.

They love to roll out the rhetoric & cry poor when they suddenly realise their massive profit margin may get reduced by a few %.
There are always the threats & they have never worked out that even after a dispute is settled them & the employees are still miles apart when it comes to trust.
I have always taken the view of not to react to their bullying tactics as that is what they thrive on, just let them dig their hole deeper & deeper.
They are experts in that department.

God a scab list is so just quintessential Austranaut. Not to mention a complete breach of your employment code of conduct etc. Now’s the time to be made an example out of by Q, to send a warning shot to the rest of you. This isn’t 1989, that’s a Taylor Swift album I believe..

Go to the bowlo and have a shandy with sugar and let the next generation not be tainted.

where will this industry find the hundreds if not thousands of pilots they will need? You can’t crew the entire operation with cadets. The US carriers gave massive rises and even they are still struggling. I just don’t understand what the end game is here.

There seems to be an endless supply of homesick expats willing to fill these roles. I suppose the company are aware of this and will just keep shaking that tree.

That flows both ways. Lots of people following the lure of ME carriers and US freight from us. Maybe over time the exchange slightly favours Australian employers but I’m not sure that’s currently the case- I can’t tell you the last time I flew with someone new with overseas experience (or even jet time of any variety).

recruitment is down across the entire group, almost to a point where we are begging people to come to interviews.

People must have worked out that ‘pilot’ is an overrated job with deteriorating comparative conditions. (Please don’t tell my mum I’m a pilot, she thinks I’m a piano player in a whorehouse.)

Luisa Beltran, Fortune. “The Atlanta-based carrier doled out $1.4 billion in profit-sharing payments to its workers, a bonus check that worked out to 10.4% of their annual salary. That’s more than double what the airline handed out last year and significantly higher than the $108 million that was shared in 2022.”
I can count on one hand the number of folks in my outfit (of about 80 odd E-3's) that have left for home. All due personal / family reasons.
Sure, none of us are at Delta, but while we keep losing pilots to them, T's and C's continue going up.
Keep fighting Network boys and girls, the entire nation will be riding on your success. We will all owe you.

That happens when airlines run a decades long campaign about the diminishing level of skill required for the job and thus the diminishing pay and conditions that it deserves. We’re glorified bus drivers, aren’t we? Ironically, more people probably want to be bus drivers than pilots these days
