New 'Bonza' LCC launches middle 2022 with B737 MAX
I don't think the great unwashed give a toss whether it's a Max or not. They aren't that interested. They really only shop on cost.
The Comet was different - it was new technology - the first pressurised jet passenger aircraft.
Frankly Bonza have got bigger issues than whether Joe Public thinks that the MAX is on the nose. They've got an expensive piece of kit sitting idle in a fairly corrosive environment with no sign that'll be earning any money for them any time soon. How long can it sit there before they need to put some sort of preservation program in place?
100% agree with that, no matter what machine it will cost money if it doesn't work. And if it sits long enough it will get lazy and won't want to move when it needs to.... Planes get very lazy when they sit long periods, it's like you have to wake up each individual part over a number of months.
Not really much different at all,

I have seen some nasty corrosion photos of a certain striped tail A320 that sat in the Alice for the last 2 years, let alone one parked up near the coast. God help that poor old Virgin A330 stuck out west.
A quote from Carly Povey in the SMH today:
"It’s a new model for Australia, but it works elsewhere. Our fuel-efficient aircraft has high capacity and will only fly two to three times a week. If we were flying 4-6 times a day on major routes with high competition and low capacity, we’d be more worried about profitability,”
Flying two to three times a week and making a profit, these guys are way out of their depth.

Unless they have leases, insurance, and all crew paid by operational hour that just sounds completely stupid. Is this airline real or a complete joke? I'm again leaning towards it will suddenly merge with one of the other players before it gets much momentum, or just disappear.
So many armchair experts on PPRuNe with opinions based on part knowledge.
Heard all this ‘they’re amateurs, they’ll never survive, they’re total jokes’ before. Specifically about Virgin Blue and Impulse/Jetstar.
Certainly the Bonza model as it appears is quite unusual but with 777 Partners behind them, they’re no lightweights.
Still amazes me that social media can be so full of anonymous experts, none of whom apologise when their expert opinions are so often proven incorrect.

Virgin Blue did not survive, it failed in the long run, many of the issues we highlighted during its run were true and led to its downfall over time, specifically the E-jets into regional areas. It's only here now as VA as its been bailed out several times in it's history with the latest being complete administration. 10 years ago it was being pumped with cash from SQ, EQ and AirNZ, in a hope to make it viable, which only prolonged its death.
Impulse was bought out as an industrial relations tool for the QF group and J* is the bastard child which has only existed to provide a wedge at the bottom against real low cost carriers entering the Australian market. That is, its an artificial entity that exists as part of the QF group to stifle competition, it makes small amounts of profit but nothing that would sustain the airline on it's own if it didn't have the ties with mother. Do you really think J* would have the capital pull on its own to have fleets of brand new Airbus and 787s?
And face it, without the loyalty program QF and J* would struggle, it makes billions for the group.
…yeah indeed some truth to what you say but aviation is a complex ecosystem. Would Qantas International have survived Covid if it wasn’t for the domestic (Australian Airlines) component? Would Ansett have survived if SQ had purchased them instead of ANZ?
Point is, it never ceases to amaze me how anonymous social media posters make grand statements when they know precious little about the whole picture.
Usually it’s just self -reinforcement ‘my airline is better than yours’, or ‘my Boeing is better than your airbus’ drivel but so often it’s ill-informed and the writer should be embarrassed.

Just straightening up abit of history for you 'Inches.
Nopulse were snapped up by QF so Ansett couldn't jump into regional ops quickly and to also utilise McGowans trucking industry Ts & Cs.
Pornstar was started in a rush, at the last minute to stop a new LCC named Spirit from starting out of Avalon. CEO was a good bloke named Mike and two painted aircraft sat already in the hangar there for their media launch guess when... that's right, the next day (Fox maintained his Chairman's Lounge access).
J* have been heavily cross subsidised right from the start so in essence, a true LCC hasn't had the access or time to give it real crack. Good luck to them.
Happy Landings

A true LCC isn’t that dumb that’s why.
The smartest guy in the room has always been the Air Asia boss. If they can’t make it work, nobody can. To this day it remains that way.
Am I going to come up and set up AirAsia Australia? No. Tiger is on drugs doing it," Mr Fernandes told The Australian Financial Review.
"You (Tiger) are sitting on a market of a billion people and you go and put half your capacity in a market of 24 million which has two pretty strong airlines; it doesn't make sense to me."

Possibly a sign of how things are progressing for Bonza AOC-wise, Shazza has now been towed from where it had been parked near the RPT apron down to the far end of the southern parking apron at MCY.
We are working our way through a very long to-do list but progress is ongoing,” Mr Jordan said.
Bonza’s chief executive, Tim Jordan, isn’t sure when the airline will receive the OK from Casa, admitting it may not be this year.
Not to mention they took delivery of their second frame this week and sent her to Calgary!
But wait, is Bonza having a bit of trouble getting going?
Time for a Bonza bash eh Micky....
Hang on where's Poppa, ain't he due to chime in with some "über negative" posts about now
