I don't think the great unwashed give a toss whether it's a Max or not. They aren't that interested. They really only shop on cost.
Thats why I said a % will not fly, some, maybe most don't give a stuff. Just like a steak house will miss out on Vegan clientele.

The Comet was different - it was new technology - the first pressurised jet passenger aircraft.
Not really much different at all, by the Comet 4 sales were improving, but the competition was way more favored and the UK lost it's edge as the premier aircraft producer. The same is happening in Boeing vs Airbus, Boeing is selling the Max at a huge discount, Airbus now has a huge backlog on A320s at pretty much whatever price they want. The numbers are telling. Max, about 3000 order backlog, A320/21 Neo about 6000 orders yet to be delivered. Airlines are only ordering the Max if they are desperate for it now or want something cheap.
