Chejar, depend if you're flying to Heathrow or Gatwick

From Heathrow, you need to take the Underground to Waterloo and you can then get a train to Southampton from there. If your test is at the Novotel, then Southampton Central station is only a few minutes walk.

From Gatwick, you can get a train to Portsmouth and then change to go to Southampton.

National Rail Enquiries is good, but you can also use Cheap train tickets, get UK train times & fares | thetrainline

hey guys, i wanted to know after the stage 1 test, how long do they take to reply back with a yes or No. and after how long do you go to stage 2.

Been seeing a few nervous faces around CTC recently so it's nice they're getting some new applicants through again. Best of luck to everyone! It took me 18 months to get from the first online application to my stage 3 interview and I know other people on my course were waiting even longer so you have to be pretty determined! Seems like things are progressing fairly nicely however.

It takes up to 15 working days, at least that's what they told mea fter all my stages, sometimes they were quick and sometimes it took the full 15 days. My guess is that it all depends on how busy HR is at the time.

I've booked my Stage 1 on the 20th Sep and will be flying into Gatwick then getting the train to Fareham to spend the night on 19th,

Is there anyone else from the Glasgow/Prestwick Area going down or anyone else going the night before?

I've re-arranged my interview to the Novotel, and the confirmation email says it will start at 10am and end at 12pm.

Does anyone know if this will be for both parts (assuming i pass the first)? I'm sure the original times lasted around 3 hours.

I'm wanting to book my fight home for 4.15pm, and as long as I'm finished by by 2pm i should be ok.

Hello everyone. I just wanted to say, that im scheduled for day 1 assesment on 26th of september. Basicly im writing just to introduce myself. I'm hoping that I will have a lot more to write about after and if i get to the 2nd day assesment :)
I can't wait to do these tests, can hardly focus on uni's exams because of that...

TR24: I'm from Liverpool too lad...but I'm a bit worried about you organising a 'fight' home!! I did ask your question a page before...I am led to believe that the whole deal will last 2-3 hours...including if you need to take the further test! I've decided to fly because its 'slightly' quicker than the train, and i get far too bored on the train. The prices of flights from Manchester to Southampton (with Flybe) isn't much more than the train if you don't want to take a bag in the hold.

My Stage 1 started at 11:15 and I was out bang on 1pm, and I stayed for all the tests :ok:

I'd just like to know if anyone has some exercise examples about "calculating headings and directions using the 360º of the compass" (feeling really dumb right now :ugh:) cause I haven´t really understand wath they mean, and try to find some exercises on the web and I have been unsuccessful.
I'd appreciate if anyone could help me!

I've been invited to stage one on the 14th. I applied through an advert which said you had to be 18 when the course starts (October I believe it starts). But NATS.co.uk says be 18 when I applied. Im 18 in the first week of October. Will I get turned away?!

I emailed NATS two weeks ago but no response :(
I leave on Thursday so i need to know soon!

Hi, ideally this question is for someone who is passed the stage 1 or even better already an ATC

In the part of the booklet where you need to learn the aircraft types/FL/speed/seating etc

Can someone give me an example of a question?
Would it be something like:
If you are flying from London to East Coast USA what plane will you likely be in and what FL/speed is it likely to fly at?

Is the part of what airlines use what aircraft something you NEED to know as im strugling remembering what one uses what part from the key big companies like BA etc

I filled out my application form Friday 07/09 received my initial online assessment 10/09 completed that and I have booked a date for 03/10. So it seems they are still recruiting.

Long drive from Lincoln down to Southampton but I am looking forward to it. Plenty of revision on maths before I go down. Bit of a pain to find any similar online assessments to the ones provided in the email though. Fingers crossed for all.

On the NATS website when it is listing the recruitment process it mentions a numeracy test on Assessment day one. Do you know what level this numeracy test is at? Will I just need to know multiplication, subtracting, adding, division and general speed calculations? or is it more in depth than that.

Glad to hear how quickly people have recieved the emails from HR inviting them back for Stage 3, it gives me slightly more confidence before the huge day :)

I'll be going down to Southampton on Thursday the 20th of September (interview starts at 08:15). I'll be staying at the Premier Inn. I'm feeling a tad apprehensive at the moment though, but reading posts here helps to clear my mind!

Nearly a week after doing the bio-data questionnaire I got the invite to Stage 2 this afternoon. Talk about suspense! Haven't booked a date yet as I'm stuck at work again! There seems to be a theme of letting me know results whilst I can do nothing about thwm,lol!

Hi there, I have some questions regarding the test material for stage 1 & the email they send you, has anyone used the Practice Tests on SHL Website link? I've been on it but I can't see what's meant to be done? Just linked straight to the homepage.

For the ATC test, I assume the test material comes from the 24 page word document. But how about the numeracy test? How in depth with math is that?

As for the spatial reasoning and diagramming tests I have no worries.

I understand that you're not allowed to discuss what exactly is in the tests but vaguely, I'd appreciate if someone could clear this up a bit, especially the SHL website! :p
