I really want that skytest software to revise with but there isn't a Mac version, plus it's pricey! How are you guys practicing other than the practice leaflet? Any online test to recommend? I have done a couple but at the very end they say you must pay such and such to see how well you did.

HeaVn 31st August 2012 12:56

Hi guys,

I live in london and don't really know the area down there. What is the nearest train station, is it Swanwick? Do you guys stay at a hotel or you go straight there in the morning ?

Simon89 31st August 2012 14:23

Just received an e-mail from Nats inviting me to Stage 3 next month, quite surprising as I only failed stage 3 in July...?
Assume it's just an error on the system, need to contact them anyway to ask for feedback.

HeaVn 31st August 2012 19:35

Is it from london victoria? what time have you got to be there? I think the first train is at about 7am...

mts1 31st August 2012 22:46

chejar, just go back a few pages and you'll have your answer. Everything you need to know is reflected in this forum

flightlevel900 1st September 2012 07:23

Hey Everyone, Good luck to all of you making it past the intial recruitment phases. Ive just been invited to Stage 1 selection - so will hopefully see some of you there.

Kidol 1st September 2012 11:54

Hi all!

I'm new to the forum, thought I'd sign up :)

I passed the initial test (from the email link) and now I'm booked on the first stage test on Thurs 13th September at 08:15. :D

Anyone else at that time/day?

The Many Tentacles 1st September 2012 15:52

On the assumption you've all got your tests at the CTC in Whiteley, the nearest train station is Swanwick. However, you're looking at a taxi ride from there as it's a good few miles.

If you've got the early test time then leave plenty of time, rush hour traffic is terrible. Lots of people work in Whiteley and there's only one way in. Also, the parking at CTC isn't great either, lots of cars and not enough spaces.

Good luck to anyone who has got their tests coming up

flightlevel900 1st September 2012 20:18

Hey all.

My Stage 1 interview is on the 14th September. I'm flying in from Dubai on the 13th and have booked my stay on the 13th at the Solent hotel in Whiteley. Let me know if anybody is at the same selection as me and are staying in the area the night before also.

roundpole 1st September 2012 21:54

Keep Calm and Carry On :))) I think that in the end it's all a lot more straight forward than we newbies can imagine

Just did my online test. Totally relaxed and calm awaiting results (not). Anyone from Yorkshire here ???

atcsstudent 1st September 2012 22:07

Another one from Yorkshire. Online tests tomorrow and then fingers crossed.
See you all! Hopefully

Greetings Everyone.

Got my online Assesment with NATS, but i had a quick question in regards to one of their games, the 'Gateway Game'

When ever i try it, i ALWAYS get game over soon as i try to pass the first gate, clearly im doing something wrong, but i read the description and far as i can tell, am doing what it says. Any Tips please?

conc1845 2nd September 2012 08:42

Well, after apparent cancellations of any testing on Tuesday 11th, I'm now rescheduled for Thursday 20th. Able to put holidays in for this one too instead of throwing two sickies. Unfortunately the Premier Inn in Fareham is fully booked on the Wednesday night so now I'm looking at close alternatives.

Anyone else for Thursday 20th @ 10:45?

Like mts1 has said, the Stage 1 info is all detailed in this thread several pages back with numerous links to other source pages for practice tests/questions (Mental Arithmetic, Spatial Awareness, Diagrammatic Reasoning etc.).

Hell, even go on BBC Bitesize to touch up on some long division if needs be :ok:

Kimmikins 2nd September 2012 08:56

conc1845

Conc1845, look up the Holiday Inn in Fareham, it's potentially just as close but you'd come in a different way by taxi.

I've been using all sorts of websites for long division, multiplication, DST problems etc; it all helps! It gets you into the maths frame of mind and brushes off the cobwebs ;)

Shook 2nd September 2012 09:39

Hello

Hi there!

I'm new to these forums and have made my way to the stage 1 selection tests. However I read 2-3 pages back that the test material they link you to in the email is outdated, should I email them requesting If they have any up to date material?

My interview is on the 26th at 8:15, any one else then? :hmm:

Luke40885 2nd September 2012 10:34

Hi all,

New on here ... Just completed the online test (Took about 5 mins) but it redirected me back to nats.co.uk when I completed it, is that correct?

Also how long roughly before I hear anything back regarding the results of my assessment?

Thanks

Megamc 2nd September 2012 11:08

Info about online test

Hi Kido.
Could you give some information about the online test?

Thanks :)

GAPSTER 2nd September 2012 13:55

If it's any use chaps (a generic term we use in ATC which includes the fairer sex before I get the book thrown at me) accommodation in Pompey is also plentiful...rail links direct to Swanwick, short taxi to CTC.

Chewy3112 2nd September 2012 15:17

Hi all
I applied back in July and too only heard back on Thursday last week with the invite to do the online test which I passed and am going for the next stage on Tuesday 11th September at 10:45!
I'm too from yorkshire so will be travelling down the night before!
Good luck to everyone!!!

Stage 1 - Thu Sept 20 - 8.15 BST

Hello everyone :)

Got my Stage 1 scheduled for Thu Sept 20 - 8.15 BST

As I am in Portugal, I'll be flying to London and I would appreciate if someone local can give me some tips:

1. best way from airport to southampton - i am guessing rail?
2. some place to stay which is close to CTC and not too expensive...

Best to all and thanks in advance for the help

Antonio

roundpole 2nd September 2012 17:26

Chewy well done :) If I'm lucky and get the same date I can give You a ride from Armley ;)

roundpole 2nd September 2012 17:30

GAPSTER do You know any usefull accomodation in Whiteley ? Im going to use my car so I dont really know where to stay but Whiteley seems closest option

Megamc 2nd September 2012 17:30

Hi Chewy3112

Could you give me some informatin abouts the test online?

Thanks

GAPSTER 2nd September 2012 18:20

Roundpole...the only hotel I know of in Whiteley is The Solent Hotel...stayed there a couple of times on work related stuff.Very close to CTC if it's in your budget range. It's not particularly up market, maybe worth a look on Lastminute.com or similar?

conc1845 2nd September 2012 19:47

Kimmikins - cheers for that. Not quite as close as the 1.5 miles to premier inn but may just do. I'll be driving anyway so taxi route not an issue.

Anything to make the maths part of your brain function really. Good luck tomorrow everyone & anyone.

Kimmikins 2nd September 2012 20:13

Conc, it is if you go the other way into Whiteley ;) but Google Maps wants to take you the long way.

Solent Hotel is situated just as you come down from J9, but it's known for being pricey. There's also a B&B in Park Gate called Four Winds, but if you're looking for something close, you won't get closer than the Solent Hotel!

LGW_08R 2nd September 2012 21:11

Just a quick one.

This seems really odd, but my impression from what I have seen online on other forums, is that at Stage 1, there is no interview? Am I correct in assuming this? Is stage will literally just a number of various tests?

Regards.

conc1845 2nd September 2012 21:11

Not so much close, just as hassle free and easy to drive from as possible as you could imagine.

Crazy Voyager 2nd September 2012 21:44

The only interview is during stage 3.

LGW_08R 2nd September 2012 21:45

Grand, there goes the couple of hours I spent preparing answers to questions for stage 1 :ugh: Oh well, at least if I make it to stage 3, I will be semi prepared!

Cheers

LGW_08R 3rd September 2012 12:17

Just got home from stage 1 assessment. Unsure how to feel about it, part of my is confident, part of me not so much. Here is hoping I find out if I progress in the next couple of days, as opposed to a dragged out couple of weeks!

Sorrycool 3rd September 2012 13:49

How many people at assessments?

Hello all.

New to this forum. Ive got my stage 1 test on the 26th September. I was wondering how many people are at each session?

Can someone who has been give us a heads up on what to expect on that first session? How much feedback if any did you get?

Also, how difficult is it to get to stage 1 at NATS, after application and online test?

I thought I had done well to get to initial selection but Im thinking the real process of elimination now starts.

Thanks

tonycrfc1 3rd September 2012 14:12

Are there interviews taking place at prestwick airport does anyone know??

Glamdring 3rd September 2012 14:24

Prestwick isn't a NATS airport so I would very much doubt it.

HeaVn 3rd September 2012 14:32

Hi LGW- 08R,

First of all, i hope it went ok for all of you.
Could you tell us a bit more about the first stage?
Is it the same as described on the website?
ATC paper and numeracy test and then if you are successful you are invited to take the last two tests ?
I've just received the invitation for stage 1, but unfortunately there is no dates available. Sent an email to HR and they said to check the link again in a couple of days...

MountainSide 3rd September 2012 14:34

stage 1 study material

Hello everyone

I have been reading through the materials send in the link to Stage 1 tests (the doc file), and it seems to have been writen arround 2007-2009. Is this the actual material or did they feed a link with outdated material???

If I happen to fail (hope, not, fgr crossed) I just don't want to fail for some stupid thing like outdated materials... :OO

Regards and thanks

LGW_08R 3rd September 2012 14:38

Hello there,

Thank you first off. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to talk in detail about any of the stages, so I won't go into any detail. However, all the materials they send you, you will be tested upon. So ensure you have an understanding of the documents and so on. With regards to how my day was, ran exactly as described on the website.

Sorry I can't help anymore :)

HeaVn 3rd September 2012 14:45

I understand. There is no surprise, that's all I wanted to know :)
Thank you
