That's fair enough silverhawk, but that's man for man with no extra routes or a/c. LS was supposed to be basing a third a/c at BLK 2010, and with their expansion at MAN-that looks unlikely.

Well I hope their is somewhere different that Spain in the pipeline, as much as I enjoy Spain I would like a change. I am having to fly from MAN in May/June in 2010 to Lanzarote because there are no Canary Island routes from BLK at that time of the year.

Nothing wrong with Manchester - But I have got used to the hassle free Blackpool airport, and hope LS give BLK an Eastern Med destination for Summer 2010.

So do I - get a nosebleed if I go east of Dover these days...:}

24/7

BLK will be open 24/7 when/if they have a/c movement the same.
Other way round me thinks - BLK will have a/c movements 24/7 when it is open 24/7.

Ernest Lanc's 22nd September 2009 15:21

Back at NH

That is slitting hairs. But it amounts to the same thing.

take-off 22nd September 2009 15:30

The unfortunate thing is, despite wanting the best for BLK ,I cant see it opening 24/7, we dont have the traffice , and the locals wont have it on their doorstep, especially with pontins closing to be replaced by a largish housing estate, couldn't see it ever gettin permisions to go 24/7 , Blkpl council may support it but its not in their boundries, that side of squires gate comes under fylde borough, and some people would rather see the airport go back to the odd flight it used to do, more of a case 'Not in my back yard', not think of the jobs it could create that would be related to a much busier airport, more jobs = more taxes paid as business moved in , but no, we'll build more houses on the last piece of open ground around blk and fylde... anyway rant over..

Anything new rumoured to be coming BLks way before i start looking for next summers hols, see couple of local travel agents are booking hols for jersey already, one was pushing the bulgaria hols too, but were local agents rather than the big chains, i guess who are tied to the tour ops, and are we likely to see any more tour ops coming blk way, and does anybody know who is doing the croatia flight/hols that being advertised on the destination map on BLk's airport website?

Helllllllllllllllllllllllllooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooo:E

Well with Baby dropping ALC and AGP from man , surely that would open up and opportunity for LS from BLK, seeing as they dont run the route either in the winter, couple of times a week , ought to be a possiblity, or more likely be a no go as things stand, anybody notice that after the first week of jan , the only LS flight is fridays tenerife:sad:

MUFC_fan 3rd October 2009 20:49

I think MAN would be the first place for expansion if WW reduced flights on LS routes from MAN.

Ernest Lanc's 5th October 2009 23:41

Unfortunaely I agree MU - It was a dark(ish) day for BLK when FR stomped out of MAN, and PMs eyes lit up.

take-off 6th October 2009 17:28

Seems like BLK has missed out again, raft of new routes to MAN, Reus would have been agood gap filler in place of FRs girona. Still we can go to jersey instead(as nice as it is!):E

Blackpool

Hi

Many years ago, I flew with Comad ex Blackpool to the Isle of Man. I am hoping to book my spring break with Jet2/Blackpool for next year, as given the free parking, general ease and I suspect a lot less hassle at the carousel, this will beat Manchester for us. Even travelling from Sheffield, Blackpool is a better option than Birmingham or Leeds.

I would like to see flights to Croatia or somewhere similar.

Glad to be back to the relative sanity of the BLK thread after reading some of the anti JET2 posts on the JET2 thread.

I agree take-off - Even Cinderella got to the ball eventually, seems like BLK won't be partying in 2010 like MAN.

dada 6th October 2009 19:18

As Good As It Gets Just About Sums It Up For Blk For Now.

BLKsheriff 6th October 2009 21:08

PM was at BLK today...anyone know if any good news came of it?

MUFC_fan 6th October 2009 21:19

Maybe he was checking that there were no queues - as I guarantee, if all airports next summer manage to have no queues for Jet2 flights - BLK will.

I do hope it is good news however.

So do I - But I think dada has a point when he says "As good as it gets for now".

The writing on the wall was there when LS filled FRs boots at MAN, and looks like LS are going big time expanding to East Midlands.

I have had to book from MAN to Lanzarote, and am waiting to see if LS go further East in 2010.

Anything is possible I suppose if PM was at Blackpool today, hopefully he has found BLKs feet fits the slipper and he magics an Eastern Med route, Corfu would be good.

EGBKFLYER 7th October 2009 08:56

PM was at BLK to deliver an internal company brief - nothing to do with 2010 plans sadly!

Because I have done Spain and done Spain from BLK with my wife daughter and her friend.

Spain has the Tivoli World. Terra Mittura and assorted nature parks such as Mundomar.

But we have seen it done it and wore the tea shirt to many times, and don't fancy Portugal which is expensive heavens knows why towards ALC or AGP, but not my scene.

Corfu for youngsters of 12ish IMO is better than Crete (swine fue to boot), and Rhodes with the beautiful scenery, scenery scenery - If you see what I mean.

I was going to go to Ibiza or Mahon, but LS pulled the plug, and I know every inch of Majorca so a change would be nice, but with a something going on.

I am not the usual BLk pax with a second/timeshare home, and if BLK don't attract some routes other than Spain, then it will remain that way.

BLK is my airport of choice dada, however I am ready for a change in the summer.

Another problem I have is that I have lots of reward points to spend with JET2, and after summer of 2010 most will expire - LS know full well that it's hard to look a gift horse in the mouth.

With the expansion by JET2 to big city airports, BLK will linger for the foreseeable future IMO. Along with my points.

Done Spain

If you think you have done Spain going to Tivoli Gardens and a number of water parks you are a very sad and small minded person. Think again my friend and go and see the real Spain away from the costas. Beautiful scenery plus gorgeous towns and cities. Friendly people etc. Go on try it I am sure you will enjoy it but donīt expect a pint of John Smiths at the local bar where the locals are shooting the breeze!
