Been away so a bit out of touch so apologise if this has ben covered.
Bit of Pub talk last night cited landing fees at IBZ & MAH as the main reason for the stopping, of the two flight, can anyone in the know comment ?
Can agree with the comments about the Car Park by the Air Centre, jokingly asked the girl on information where the shuttle bus ran from and she gave me a right dirty look:mad::mad:

IB4138.

I agree the thread deviated, this happens with all threads from time to time. Whether right or wrong depends on the context of the deviation, and is there any loose connection with the subject of this BLK thread in this case.

The post by howard h was not deviating from the subject of this thread IMO, because had JET2 not pulled the routes to IBIZA and MAHON from BLK, then he would never have written that post.

harbour cotter.

You may well have been factually correct. But I suggest you read your post that IB4138 was referring to, and I think you won't have an option but to agree the post was off topic and reads like an advert for Liverpool.

dwlpl.

Your post was just an answer to a comment, although slightly off topic it was in no way an advert.

Anyway MartonMess has got the thread back on topic with his interesting question about landing fees at MAHON and IBIZA.

Ernest

Unfortunately dwlpl keeps appearing with unwarranted and unnecessary comments on threads about other North West airports ( not just BLK), other than LPL, pushing the merits of LPL as he sees it through rose tinted specs at all of us. He has had enough warnings.

If he kept his biased comments to the LPL thread or supported ALL North West airports, without the bias, then there would not be a problem. He just can't take a hint.

Repatriating a person back to BLK tomorrow night.

IB4138

Thank's for making me aware of that fact. I was assuming his post in reply to me was a one off.

Post #213 (20/12/06) on the Liverpool thread from IB4138:

Not a good night for Liverpool.

5 Easyjet based aircraft overnighting in Blackpool and 3 Ryanair at Manchester.

A further 2 aircraft for each of these airlines reported to be at EMA.

As a result there are 13 cancelled flights up to 08.15 this morning.

What a way to run an airport!

If this continues, Easy and Ryan may as well move their operations to Blackpool permanently!

Remember it well, even the extra trade we lost when the firemen decided enough was enough and went home leaving the aerodrome without fire cover.
Apparently eazyjet went bezerk and aint been back since :ugh::ugh:.

barry lloyd 8th September 2009 17:48

Now that Pontin's is to close, there's an opportunity to extend 10/28:)

MUFC_fan 8th September 2009 17:52

That doesn't sound as stupid as some people would think...

Yeah, flatten out the sand dunes a bit, and we've got the St Maarten of the north!

MartonMess 8th September 2009 18:47

Theres a certain man who I wont mention DH, who owns the land, and likes building houses, so whats the betting it will be houses in five years ?.
Oh and before we start lengthning 10/28 isnt there a railway track in the way ?

MUFC_fan 8th September 2009 18:52

Not going to stop Man Utd...:ok:

Seriously, it is very unlikely it will happen in the next 20 years that Blackpool would get or NEED an extension to their runway.

Not even LPL can sustain a TATL flight...

MartonMess 8th September 2009 19:04

Man Utd if you fancy digging them a tunnel i`ll come and give you a lift

MUFC_fan 8th September 2009 19:07

In fact the last time I heard the plan was that they would build over the top. Don't know how the plans are going at the moment but I am sure 100,000 people would want to visit every week! ;)

Just think - more people watch Man Utd at OT in under 2 months than pass through Blackpool every year...:ok:

Nah, stop the line at St Anne's and run a bus service - it's all the rage dontcha know:)
Regarding the housing, I fear you may be right. The temptations are obvious, but if it were to happen, it would be interesting to see how long before the occupants start to complain - we used to get them frequently from the Pontins inmates when I worked there. Those who were sober enough to press the right numbers that is!

MUFC_fan 8th September 2009 19:45

It would be very expensive housing on the front but would people want to live there with planes flying barely feet above their houses?

barry lloyd 8th September 2009 19:50

It seems to work on Ringway Road!

People aren't stupid. They would know there was an airport on their doorstep should they buy any house built. The owner knows this, the builders know this - the mortgage lenders know this. i doubt anyone would build on any scale next to an airport.

I think I would rather believe the BLK and BB would buy the land, and would extend the runway and let the jets run over the railway line:D

People may not be, but landowners/developers are - no - actually they're just greedy. There is currently a planning application in the system to build a large number of houses very close to a major civil airport in the UK - some have already been built. To be fair, the council will probably reject it, but it doesn't stop them from trying!
On the TV news tonight, the Pontin's spokesman said that the lease had expired, and inferred that the lessor did not want to renew it, so presumably he's got other ideas...

Yes please!!!!

horatio_b 8th September 2009 21:09

Before developers get too carried away with plans to build on the Pontins site, they may ponder the fate that befell the developers of luxury flats on the nearby Dune Point estate in the sandhills. The company went into liquidation with only half the homes sold.
