Yes me too, and the share price still in the doldrums.

It's primarily a UK based leisure company. It's share price is taking a hammering in line with most companies in the industry. It's nothing to be too concerned about (unless you're a shareholder!).

Roster is very stable and it has been an easy Summer, those who are having a tough time must be on the wrong type.:=

Plenty of roster changes
And?
I presume you've had some days off and been paid handsomely also.

Plenty of roster changes due to constantly yo-yoing against the 100 in 28 days limit due to poor planning/retention. Paid handsomely? All the money in the world doesn't help when you're trying to stay awake for the drive home at 3am after nudging over the 100 hours on the return sector. It's OK though because it's all 'legal'... and yes, I have filed fatigue reports this summer.
I'm sure you'll cry me a river.

If Jet2 were to establish a third base not situated in the UK my money is on AGP :)

EK77WNCL 5th Sep 2016 00:06

I'd say it would be a toss up between AGP or TFS/ACE, I'm sure they based a 738 at ACE one winter a few years ago, because it was the first Jet2 scheduled flight into NCL a couple of times a week

It was a 75 and based @ TFS

It was both in the past. Both very much temporary bases. In fact the ACE basing didn't last the full winter season and was operated with the Czech 738 that was leased.

Spot on. In fact the leased Travel Service B738 flew part of the winter season from Ace to/from Blackpool.

I think Jet2 rightly placed an aircraft in ALC to provide a rapid response should they have a tech issue in Spain, it is always going to be quicker to resolve that with a standby aircraft nearby, of course some of this was probably in response to the care levels that are expected (and protected) with inclusive tours holidays.

With regard to the share price, well they go up and down just the same as everyone else, as this season winds down all eyes will be on next years forward bookings, if the pound remains weak in to early new year people will likely hold off committing to multiple EU holidays and with Sharm, Tunisia and parts of Turkey off limits, then many will only look at EU destinations or the states and Jet2 can't really do the latter with very old 757's up against operators with 787's other than Xmas specials.

Brexit and 25+ new 738's are a toxic mix for an airline that is very seasonal in its operation, 2017 will be a challenging year for all airlines, aren't they all! but thus far things have worked out for Jet2 and i suspect that they will again, they need to replace their older aircraft and i'm sure they will have got a good deal on run out production of NG prior to the MAX, but out of the box the max will fly faster, higher and use less fuel, be it FR with 200 seats or Norwegian flying from Spain to the UK with a Spanish cost base.

Jet2 should size the moment and become a true pan European airline whilst a EU accepted AOC allows, the new 738NG are ideal to base in LPA/TFS/FUE/ACE flying to Scandinavia in winter, good use of the asset is the secret to good returns

Marcus Absent 6th Sep 2016 09:55

A 757 FAO base aircraft could cover all fleets and. Spain/Portugal/Canaries. I doubt they have 1 spare though

B737900er 6th Sep 2016 16:21

Portugal is very expensive and ALC is already set up. A B757 based in ALC would be the ideal situation.

EI-BUD 7th Sep 2016 07:49

Of course Inkjet,
A base in the Canary Islands flying to Scandinavia, never worry about DY or SK.... I'm not convinced. Jet2 has very clearly been going primarily after the inclusive tour market, this is a key differentiator for them, this coupled with low aircraft costs has allowed them to compete effectively with FR EZY etc. Does that model need ac arriving at destinations around the same time to feed to bus connections etc?

The jury is out on the impact of Brexit at this point, some signs point to it not being as devastating as 1St anticipated... And the exchange rate is improving.. Though as pointed out any softening in demand could be particularly painful with the burden of new aircraft cost. However, If the holiday model is working they probably are better placed than other airlines...

AGM Statement:

The Board is also pleased to announce London Stansted Airport as our ninth UK base. We expect to welcome customers on board our holiday flights from this new base in spring 2017. We believe that London Stansted has great potential for our holiday business, serving the populations of North and East London and the East of England.

ib26uk 8th Sep 2016 06:28

Great news regarding Stansted - Was there every any doubt about STN being the 9th base?

LTNman 8th Sep 2016 07:01

I would think it was the only London Airport that could handle them with the slots and spare capacity they required.

Council Van 8th Sep 2016 07:12

Will we have an aircraft with 'NORTH East London's favourite airline' painted on the side.
