So NCL is remaining at 7 A/C again... Third time we've been getting 8 and it hasn't materialised

Mooncrest 12th Aug 2016 16:51

EK77. Count yourself lucky. Down the road at HQ we have up to 10 aircraft active plus 1 or 2 on standby and up to 2 in the hangar. More often than not there are insufficient stands for all these, plus Ryanair, Monarch etc (and yet they keep on sending them...)

LiamNCL 12th Aug 2016 17:52

i was under the thought that one of NCLs 733s would be a 738 next year but maybe not.

Council Van 16th Aug 2016 10:04

The hanger at Manchester has officially been anounced. Mention was made of the purchase of the new 737's and FURTHER USED aircraft.

What chance of getting an Airbus 330 type rating on my licence?

HeartyMeatballs 16th Aug 2016 10:09

Aren't NCL due for some of the -300s to become -800s? It's a cheaper way of increasing capacity and I can't imagine the -800s are vastly more expensive to fly than the -300s but with the benefit of an extra 30ish punters in the back could be great for the economics of the base. Initially growing the numbers further without the need to go through the expensive of having an 8th plane.

I think there's less chance of LS shutting the base and operating from cheaper foreign bases which the other LCC at NCL is planning on doing.

Anyone know where Jet2 are going to fly their new aircraft? There could be some interesting new destinations with the lack of (understandable!) enthusiasm for Tunisia, Egypt, Turkey etc. Iceland, Cape Verde, Canada...?

Council Van 16th Aug 2016 20:57

Spain, Spain and Spain.

HeartyMeatballs 16th Aug 2016 21:13

I can see Cape Verde. Does anyone know if the 737 will make it there, and if it is possible to do a there and back? I'm not sure if it's doable in a day.

Tunisia, Egypt, Turkey, have you been watching the news lately? ;) Iceland is dominated by ever expanding Icelandair and WOW air. Cape Verde and Canada are too far to be operated properly with the current fleet.

The first ones are to open the new Birmingham base as well as replacing older aircraft.

EK77WNCL 16th Aug 2016 22:07

There;s a couple of untapped city breaks I think they could make a go of.

Sicily and Sardinia could be expanded, as could the Greek Islands. They may even venture to La Palma? Or maybe the Azores might work from MAN?

They haven't touched Bulgaria yet, Iceland must be on it's way, and I hope they have Morocco in the back of their heads

I'd love to see Cape Verde to be honest... Fingers crossed...

And of course there are a lot of frequency upgauges that could be done, and they can't go wrong with Spanish cities, there's a multitude they could take a pop at... Maybe even Gibraltar!

Any idea what livery they will be in? I assume a mixture of both

Curious Pax 17th Aug 2016 09:51

I think I'm right in saying that 737 rudders are attached already painted, so looks like jet2.com rather than jet2 holidays.

First one to be delivered in September will be in Jet2 silver and red livery. The following four to be delivered in October and November will be in Jet2holidays livery.

Ivan aromer 18th Aug 2016 07:54

It is very encouraging to hear the Jet2 and Jet2 holidays are expanding and doing so well but if that is the case then why are the parent company shares doing so badly?

Down by almost a half today since the all time high.

Have the masters of the universe in their red braces got it wrong again or is there a real concern about the long term viability of Dart Group?

HH6702 18th Aug 2016 08:24

Compare the group and look at the others and airlines alike.

Ryanair and Easyjet aren't high compared to what they once were.
As long as the make money each year that is what counts

cornishsimon 18th Aug 2016 08:43

I see that Titan are to acquire an A330. I wonder if this will be the Jet2 aircraft next year ?

Council Van 18th Aug 2016 10:42

Price today about 475, highest price was 677 in the spring.

Unless you have been to Mars and back I am sure you are aware of Brexit.

This will obviously have an effect in the short term with the drop in the value of the pound against the Dollar (purchase of fuel and new aircraft) and the Euro (purchase of hotel rooms, transport, nave charges, airport and handling fees etc in Europe)

The price reduction in the value of shares is also nearer a third and not a half.

garry8g 18th Aug 2016 13:31

I was wondering the same thing about Titan's A330 acquisition, as Jet2 seem to have a good working relationship with Titan. It is feasible.
