Admittedly from a department that has little to do with new routes, but I've heard mentioned Shanghai from them aswell. Sounded more like a dual destination for one route rather than separate route altogether, but could be wrong as the info was sketchy to say the least. File it under "crazy rumour" for now !!

Can i ask which email address you are using, as when i emailed Hainan asking to clarify the replies you have been recieving, the tone has been completely different and they claim the replies you are getting are 'not from an official Hainan Airways viewpoint?'
Confusing to say the least!

Much as I would love to think the information to be correct, I cannot help thinking an airline would not 'leak'this kind of information to an individual but rather would wish to save it for an official announcement.

Pedant head on here - FairdealFrank can we join the 21st Century please, Manchester Airport has not been called Ringway as an official title since I was a lad (many years ago).

Also enjoy eating Bombay aloo, Bombay duck (before the EU banned it) and Peking duck.
Am writing in the English language, so use English language names where they exist.
Do you not say "Moscow" rather than "Moskva", "Vienna" not "Wien" or "Al Qarihah" not Cairo?
The same applies in other languages, for example: in French "Peking" is "Pékin", in German it's "Pekin".
Am no linguistic expert, so what exactly is the difference?

I mean I have been to Paris but never visited "Paree", Germany is good fun but me calling it Deutschland is pretentious (moi?) IMHO. #consistency?

I for one find the old names quite romantic, many people prefer the older names to the new ones. Does it really matter if we use the old or new? It comes down to personal view at the end of the day. The lesson here is not to get so attached to your own viewpoint, and try to respect the viewpoints of others. Take Saigon for instance, no vietnamese residents who live there refer to there city as ho chi minh.

MIA for Manchester came to the public'c notice in the late 1970s when one Steve McDonald (no, not the one in Corrie) was airport PRO. There were ads and stickers saying Fly via MIA.
I always thought for an airport that was trying to establish itself in a wider international market the use of MIA was both niave and parochial.

Airport City Manchester / Global Logistics
For those who are interested in the 'bigger picture' at Manchester Airport, a video outlining future plans for Airport City is now available for online viewing.
The video covers Lynda Shillaw's presentation at the international property exhibition MIPIM taking place in Cannes this week. The next phases of Airport City's development are outlined, backed by slides and promotional film footage. The area previously referred to as 'Airport City South' has now been rebranded 'Global Logistics'. This already includes the new DHL facility, and details of two much larger forthcoming logistics developments are detailed in the presentation. At Airport City North ('Airport City Manchester') the first new-build offices and the recently-approved new hotel plans are showcased.
The online video coverage can be located by googling 'livestream.com Manchester at MIPIM'. A number of videos appear (worthwhile in their own right if you are interested in Greater Manchester developments generally), but the one in question is labelled 'Airport City 16:10'. As an aside, I suggest you skip directly to the two minute mark as video-coverage seems to have commenced slightly early, treating us to views of the room being prepared accompanied by a music soundtrack.
The Airport City presentation is not recommended for those whose interests are limited to air services alone. Trains / trams etc. do get a mention!

Andrew Bounds who is a feature writer has suggested The Big Four are looking at opportunities for major investment outside London, given he is from the North is this Manchester as well, I could not find the link.
The City is certainly on a major roll, which goes some way to explain the explosion of routes and increased frequency !
Back to Hainan, they are starting service to Boston, "straight out of the blocks" Boston has generated a map written in Chinese of all major Hotels/Retail Outlets/Tourist Attractions and general points of interest etc
Maybe an idea that Manchester could follow ?

I too emailed that address, and their Berlin office, my friend also emailed the Haikou office to see if replies differed, and all said only Rome and Tel Aviv were new Euro routes for 2015.
