Well at least AF seem to be pulling out all the stops to get them home instead of dumping them in a hotel until the A388 is fixed to fly them the hour over the channel.

All the stops or not, those pax should have left JFK nearly 24 hours ago, I predict no matter how much effort we know how much AFR has put in at MAN today those pax will still be far less than happy bunnies.
The 380 has just left by the way - ironically and probably quite annoyingly for the pax, before the 3 rescue flights have departed !
I'd say the pax we're on the 380, but the way it lifted I doubt it.

Just watched a video with ATC recordings from AF007, and it sounds like the handling was a bit chaotic.
5 hours on the ground and it sounds like the captain had no idea who was handling them or where the handlers were, to the point they were asking ATC for info on pax and if he could offload them.

Getting more tit bits off social media than anywhere else where at the minute...here's a cracker of a rumour...
"Heres a good one for you, just had the 'competition watch' email at work, and it refers to the fact Qantas are announcing their results on Thursday. Interestingly, there is a quote from Alan Joyce, supposedly said on Friday, that 'we have now streamlined our business to core routes....in Europe we still have aspirations to establish routes to Manchester and Amsterdam." Despite the recent Thomas Cook Airlines possible sell off, summer 2016 initial schedule has been released and not a bad offering from MAN:

Flight from New York to Paris stranded in Manchester for SEVEN HOURS - and passengers couldn't even get off plane - Manchester Evening News
So, another KLM situation? Did MAG not learn that bad publicity is....wait for it...bad publicity?
Was it the pilot's fault, handlers fault, Air France's fault or the airport's fault? For certain these unfortunate passengers will now have strong feelings about (1) flying Air France and (2) Manchester!!! They've probably forgot about the 4 hour wait for de-icer in JFK!
What harm dipping into the multi-million profit and feeding 500 passengers? A tenner a head?
MAG could have been a saviour and ended up part of the problem, again.

Actuallt 99% of the frustration has been vented at Air France only. Not heard any news of passengers blaming MAN, even Air France were supposedly thankful to MAN for their patience......

Jet2 have updated their schedule as now no A330 ops. All of the original A330 destinations apart from Bodrum have an increased schedule, some like Palma have 3 flights on certain days. Most have an extra flight on the same day operating as a 757-200 (Privilege summer lease) and 737-800 within an hour of each other.

Oh Yes! Those 'contractor' [ex-military] types will pay big money to get out to these places. Lots of strategic oil installations and personnel to be protected (£1000+ per day jobs). And there are ethnic Kurds in the NW who will appreciate links back to the homeland. The flights operate via Vienna, so presumably some of the seats can be sold from there as well.
