I feel a damp squib coming on

Am told the biz jet belongs to Mandarin airlines a subsidiary of the China Airlines group so in itself if true nothing to do with Hainan or their brands ..
puzzling unless Hainan chartered it ?

A pure coincidence.
There needs to be two events for their to be a coincidence and as far as I know there hasn't been a second one unless you count a possible announcement as one.
Therefore as I said earlier a damp squib.
Mind you bearing in mind we were led to believe there would be an announcement (which I thought there would be but not the one we hoped for) and the fact that there wasn't makes it not even a damp squib and just another non event.
I really am having my doubts about this now.

On this occasion I don't think so.

HS2 Heathrow link R.I.P.
The HS2 link to Heathrow has been "quietly" shunted into the sidings.
BBC News - HS2: Heathrow spur plans dropped by transport minister More evidence of a fully integrated transport policy ......OR MAYBE NOT ?
This really is bizarre, my views on HS2 are unprintable BUT I concede IF you are going to spend billions on a new train set, throwing in a few extra bob to connect the UKs premier mega hub to the HS2 network would be a mandatory part of the equation would it not ?
More incredible is the fact that it was quietly filed away without a whimper !

Absolute tsunami of good news from my favorite organ the M E N on the first day with the journos gushing at the masses of investment in Manchester including confirmation of the new tower, mega plans for Media City, NOMA etc. Anyone interested should investigate the multiple links on the business section.
In the same way that investment in London contributes to the welfare of Heathrow the same can also be said of Manchester and the airport !
Manchester now has the largest private investment outside London.
And further news just in we are "finally off and running" re Airport City with a modest 75,000 sq ft building, by comparison we currently have 200,000 sq ft at Eithad , Cussons etc

I have just been greeted by masses of social media exposure linking Manchester, Manchester Airport, and American Airlines !
"can it be true?" Tourist locations (albeit Celtic in origin) , Manchester Airport, and one of its airlines ALL in one sentence ?

OK its not Gateway to The Lake District, Chester, Peak District, Chatsworth, Beatles Experience etc as one might have expected, it's actually not even a @VisitBritain initiative as it being heavily trailed by, wait for it ..... @VisitWales! All a bit odd given the more obvious candidature of VisitEngland ?
BUT crucially it DOES come under the VisitBritain banner AND more importantly at last somebody has recognised there is a major airport outside London !
Gateway to Wales ? ...It may be an odd juxtaposition, but no complaints, not this time anyway, we'll take publicity from wherever it comes!

Not a sniff that this was coming, I think I am correct in saying it came out of the blue as a written answer the day after !
At least my fear that HS2 station outside T2 would simply turn Manchester into a long stay car park for Heathrow have been banished !
When asked about a High Speed Rail / Crossrail interchange at Old Oak Common, Former Transport Secretary Philip Hammond stated a few years back...
"Lug your heavy bags down a couple of escalators along 600m of corridor and then change trains at a wet suburban station somewhere in north west London. That is not an option."
....well it is now !

Nice one Bagso. Of course, with the connectivity, and possibly increased frequencies if LHR gets R3, folk from Leeds and Manchester can still fly to LHR.

But we mustn't dwell on trains.

Ryanai have increased some routes for August.
Faro now sees 3 flights on Mondays
Milan is 2 daily on Wed/Sun
Alicante is now 12 weekly (Im sure was only 10 weekly previously)

We are using the Premium class's that partly why EK put on the extra 380. The Business class cabin on the EK flights down to the Gulf is very rarely quiet and I do this route about twice a month. I believe the other mid east carriers are also well patronised at the front end. It is only anecdotal as I do not have the figures to back this up but by my feeling through observation, is that Manchester is doing fine with regards the front end loads.

On every LH, EK, QR flight I have been on, ex MAN, Bizz class has been full or very close to it.
Virtually all Air Transat Premium seats are sold out for the entire summer.
Very often demand outstrips supply, First, when available, may be a bit thin, but there certainly is no shortage of premium pax. Northerners aren't as tight as some people make out.

Had further confirmation on West bound flight after discussion with my near neighbour who recently returned from Barbados with Virgin, and reported all the front end full. Also he bagged the last 2 Upper class seats available for this time next year on that route !. I do not go west that often these days, but all of East bound travel with SQ/EK /LH and recently CX have had 90%+ full Business class cabins, although like Mr A Tis said I do not know if First where available is that well patronised, I will ask next week.

Incidentally I do not know if a connection to Peking is that important as most of the business I and others have to go to in China are in Shanghai, and associated areas. From conversations with people on board flights to these areas, with old "China hands", this appears a common perception. On the back of that, a Shanghai service maybe more profitable, and would almost definitely have cargo potential as well. Also would get me home quicker if that is not too selfish !.

Well what a long time it has took and finally I get a email from one of the managers at hainan airlines headqaters.
"Dear Sarah,
the route Manchester - Beijing will open up in May and Hainan Airlines will operate 4 flights per week using a Airbus A330-200.
Best regards
Your Hainan Airlines Team"
Now I'm confident of this route as the first time they have gone into details without me emailing them.
Also email sent to me at 6:03PM today
Thoughts on this guys?
