The only reason Chinese Airlines do not operate early morning arrivals into Heathrow is because of slots. This year Air China started a second daily Beijing to Heathrow service at times only a couple of hours apart from the original Air China schedule.

What Air China actually want is for that second flight to be an early arrival and a lunchtime departure. Both China Eastern and China Southern would prefer early morning arrivals into Heathrow.

Paris Charles de Gaulle got extra flights from both Airlines over Heathrow as early morning slot arrivals were available at CDG.

Have you ever wondered why BA do not do a daytime Hong Kong to Heathrow service. The Cathay daytime flight from Honkers to London are rarely full, the overnight flight is always full.

I asked a Cathay repmonce about this once and she told me the Chinese do not like flying east to west of a daytime asnitnwastes time. So, I think Hainan have gotmit right for Manchester.

One thing that interests me, and it is speculation at this point, is if the Chinese are to become majority shareholders in MAG, then where are the shares coming from ?

IFM own 35.5%, and are fairly new, only becoming involved when MAG bought Stansted.

35.5% is owned by Manchester City Council.

29% is owned by 9 other borough Councils, including one I'd be most interested in, Stockport.

So which shares are being sold to possibly make the Chinese a majority shareholder in MAG, not forgetting MAG is STN, EMA and BOU on top of MAN.

Are the councils selling up ? That will be some windfall for them if so !

Friday will be a very interesting day....

Just put a booking in through the Hainan English website for next July and checked "direct flights only" box and it shows both inbound and outbound from PEK to MAN as direct flights as per published schedule

Easyjet seem to have snuck in an extra flight to Berlin from 17th May.

Was originally 8 weekly, with no flights on Tue/Sat but double daily Fri/Sun/Mon.

A Tuesday flight has been added from 17th May meaning just Saturday with no flight now, and 9 weekly overall.

Do we know how Beijing will compare to Shanghai which I "think" was proposed as a destination Ex Manchester as well ?

They certainly appear to have done some tweaking in August compared to what I'd noted for June.

I can still only see 8 for SXF with only 1 flight Monday, but up from 6 last summer ?

AMS in Aug is 21 per week v 22 in June but a significant increase from 2015.

BFS drops 1 a week in August to 16 x weekly and PMI surprisingly perhaps drops to 5 x weekly from daily.

PRG is 5 x weekly in June but 4 in Aug.

On the other hand, GVA now shows double daily, up 1 from 13 x weekly.
and Basle daily in August, up from 5 x weekly.

Hasten to add I've not checked all destinations.

As a regular China traveller I am not sure how much use a link with Peking will be as most of the work I have personally been involved with, and various supply chains have been more HK and Shanghai based. That is not to say there is not Business in Northern China, but I personally would not use this service to go to southern China, as I would rather stage through HK or Mid East. It will be interesting to see the load factors if available, as I have yet to come across many Business travellers in my admittedly small group of northern based "china hands" who have had to go up there. You have to remember the size of the place. Anyway the link will be there, which I suppose is good news, so lets see how much it is used.

The route shop gives these for numbers travelling to mainland China in 2011: Beijing 89,000, Guangzhou 18,500, Shanghai 75,000

it's not exacly 'new' news about Shaheen Air at EMA and MAN it's at least two week old news and has already been discussed in earlier posts.

The 'new' news as you must obviously be aware of is the confirmation of Hainan Airlines at MAN for 2016.

What the Chinese may be funding...?

"Sky News understands that the Prime Minister is to announce the creation of a new 'China Zone' within Airport City Manchester during a visit to the North West with President Xi Jinping of China.

The new development will comprise two new office buildings which will be reserved for Chinese companies wanting to relocate there."

With schedules for s2016 now loaded until early September and the amendments made since the previous update for Spring, is this likely to be the final program?

If so, is it clear how many based a/c are required? It had been suggested that at least 10 but possibly 11 on some days. Do the latest tweaks enable 10 a/c to do the job?

The other possibilities mentioned were new routes to Nantes and Stuttgart but according to a post on the LPL thread, these are not happening. I think this makes Vienna, starting 5 Nov, the only new route compared to s2015. Is this correct or are further announcements expected?

There were no new routes at all launched across the whole network yesterday by Easyjet from what I can see, so, you can almost bet your house that will not remain the status quo.

I don't know the guy on the LPL threads credentials, but, Stuttgart was a direct quote from Carolyn McCall in some German press, and call me old fashioned, but, if a CEO states they will serve a route, more often or not they will. They wanted to open the route last summer but Ryanair got wind and beat them to it.

So in short, we are very likely to see a couple of new routes from Easyjet, it's just a matter of where now....
