EMA Closures

Just wondering if MAG has arranged for MAN to help out with the expected disruption of operations at East Midlands Airport over the coming months due to the runway resurfacing and lighting work there?
For seven weekends in November & December EMA will close from Sat 20.00 to Mon 20.00 and throughout the project which commences 30th October and expected to be complete by 19th December the airfield will be Cat 1 only.

The trimming of winter USA capacity continues, with AA and VS each going 6-weekly to PHL and ATL from mid-January for a couple of months. The cancelled day of ops isn't always the same each week, it seems to vary especially for ATL.

DL traditionally cut back ATL in the winter when they were the operating carrier, but I can't remember PHL ever getting a reduction before, even in the depths of winter.

Seems like an odd decision for Monarch to choose Stockholm as a new route. Seems like a square peg in a round hole. I wonder what there thinking is?

I assume you are referring to this evening's deluge which affected the airport? Have your little dig. The centre of our village 5 miles from the airport was flooded for the first time in the 43 years I've lived here, as was the village 2 miles nearer the airport. City's game was called off due to a water-logged pitch.

Now just remind me of the time precious Heathrow was closed for nearly 4 days after a few inches of snow

Was on TOM's 787 to Rhodes and grounded for an hour plus but the lightening was pretty crazy! Didn't mind the delay over taking off into that!

Very dramatic last night for the UK. I was in West Yorkshire watching this role from the SW and there were some A/C doing wide sweeps to the south before heading for Manchester. I am glad I was not on one. We even watched a funnel circulations forming in the clouds about 1500ft above us so I would guess the wind shear possibilities for A/C would be quite high as well last night, as well as the joys of lighting strikes.

Wind shear was experienced on finals when the leading edge of the storm hit. 23R eventually flooded but 23L kept open (new drainage and proximity of River Bollin). Guess they run out of buckets for the ailing Pier C though

Good job all round to cope with deluge.

Watched a Ryanair B737 from Stockport on 23R, he was doing a fair whack down approach
until he hit windshear and you could visibly see him slow down
