B-HUI CX B744 on finals. Is this the last CX 744 passenger model left to be ferried for scrapping?

Maybe as I think one has gone to the states recently and looking at Planebase the only
ones left are the 800 series cargo, end of an era

Charter Operations 2017

Any news yet of who will be helping out by operating charter flights 2017 at MAN on behalf of tour companies.

Will Smartlynx, Air x, Avion Express or others be showing up ???

Just wondered

I'm slightly taken aback that Manchester are singing the praises of having only just incorporated The Chinese equivalent of Twitter into their marketing portfolio.

I would have thought this would have been on the radar years back ?

In terms of charter ops next summer:

Small planet at this time seems to be 4 based up from 2. New routes for them include the canaries, Spain and Portugal as well as the usual Greek routes and Cape Verde.

Air X has been replaced by bmiregional next summer

Not sure about smartlynx or Avion express yet.

With the Pound barely worth a Euro and inflation forecast to rise, don't be too surprised to see if not a slump, but a slow down in bucket and spade destinations. The need for extra capacity is much more less likely in 2017. It might give a much needed breather to the terminals that have struggled at times to cope with demand this year.

Mr A Tis makes a fair point. In the overall picture though, it remains to be seen to what extent any fall or slow down in UK originating passengers is compensated by an increase in inbound tourism if the UK looks attractively cheaper. That won't be from foreign beach resorts in Spain and Portugal admittedly, but from other parts of Europe and further afield, maybe.

As expected, lots of 'all points in China' - London applications being posted by CAAC but nothing for here.

Regional China to London coming in as a higher priority than regional UK to Shanghai!

Changsha and Xi'an were discussed for MAN so that will now be well on the back burner now. Oh well......

Walked through the station a couple of weeks ago and there was a board with a destination list. I only saw four destinations listed that don't currently have flights.

Perpignan
Paris-Orly
Shanghai
Shenzhen

Unfortunately I think that was inevitable as soon as the new bilateral was agreed including London. Let's see what further applications come in. Thanks for the info. anyway

In terms of the destinations lists, I believe it's very much out of date along with the 'which terminal' list, but. At a loss to who would serve Shenzen out of all places?

Not sure which airlines will be operating charter flights next summer however, Small Planet have apparently recently 'withdrawn' the majority of their Spain flights. Think after long delays, Olympic are also considering other options for the Greece flights. Unless you know something different LAX?

Looking at it, you are correct, can only find small planet operating Sal, Faro, Alicante and Palma outside of the usual Greece flights.

Would be great to have Germania back for Olympic, they had great reliability and great feedback from passengers.

The Cathay B747 en-route to Bruntingthorpe was supposed to depart Manchester today, but, due to low visibility, now delayed until Monday.

That means tomorrow and Monday will see a CX B77W and B744 on the ground together.

Wimps! Tried for tomorrow but the council refused permission to land on a Saturday!

Frank,

I would love to engage with the points you have made but fear that one of us (probably me) would end up victims of the purge.

You - beacuse this is not your "normal" forum (I sympathise because the standard of debate on the Heathrow forum has recently descended into childlike fantasy mixed in with some rather more unsavoury stuff).

Me - because I don't agree with LHR expansion at any cost - which seems to be against (presumably unofficial) PPRuNe policy.

Sorry to disappoint.

Have a good weekend.

Dobbo
Fair comment, Dobbo.

You have a good weekend too

Frank

Andy Burnham is a candidate for the Mayor of Manchester, and a Labour one at that, so I wouldn't expect him to say anything else.
A "Westminster bubble" insider through and through, "viceroy" might be a better description than "mayor".
