Beafer, join the Fodtva and you can have the night patrol with your dog! Helicopter went just after Christmas and the gear sold off. All you get is the Newcastle chopper even now.

Beafer, NPAS were never involved in airport security duties, but then I think you know that.

Following many months of private investigation and legal work, we would like to inform you that Stirling Associates - Investigations, Security, Security Services has been commissioned to finalise an investigation into the conduct of Peel Holdings, DTVA and associated Councils. The use of public funds in private infrastructure projects and planning related issues are of particular interest.

Heh Robert; good to see you back. Is this for real? If so, who commissioned it? If real, I'm surprised this hasn't made the local news?

I didn't go nowhere?! I'm told it's the guy behind the Middlesbrough FC wind turbine, I also found an article saying he was suing the airport for blocking it, but that was from 2014 so I'm guessing he must have been unsuccessful?

Ironically, if it turns out anything juicy, it can't be good for the long term future of our airport as I couldn't see a list of buyers queuing up to take it on...
Similarly, if nothing is to be found, then this is an unwelcome distraction and a short term PR problem for the airport...
So, all in all bad. The only benefit being Beafer gets his questions answered and goes off to a retirement forum for grumpy old folk who reminisce about the old days of causing internet mischief....

It would appear the finalised stats for 2016 are out, we were -6.1% for the year, nothing short of shocking really. All routes were down, -1.8% -53.1% and -12.3% across Amsterdam, Aberdeen and Jersey respectively. Aircraft movements were up a healthy 13.2% and whilst not measurable by percentage freight was up...we fell just shy of the 3,145 tonnes handled in 2000 at...8 tonnes!!! (Up from 0 in 2015)

Darlington Town Hall meeting Wed 1.30pm
Town Hall meeting on Wednesday at 1.30pm. I'll be there to see if anyone from Peel attends.
Interesting public views under the article.
Plans for homes next to Durham Tees Valley Airport "could spell death knell", says Middleton St George councillor Doris (From The Northern Echo)
Will the leaders be investigated once the Teesside airport / Peel sale agreement is unveiled.
With the news coming out of the employment tribunal regarding a senior Middlesbrough Council officer, I wouldn't be surprised if the police start a criminal investigation.
Other news: The Spa hotel is up for sale for £65k according to the Gazette.
Is that a leasehold price or freehold?

For once i do think people need to listen to Beafer and attend to make sure the housing plans are moved away from the terminal. Or if Peel plan on moving the runway and terminal to a different location, the south of the field is very large and very clear.
Much as I find myself reluctant to say this, is an airport really the best use of a large swathe of land near Middleton St George ? Alternatively, would the region be better served with the local area being converted into an alternate use ? There were more passengers passing through MME in the year of decimalisation (yes, 1971, the year when the UK used shillings and there were 240 pence to a pound) than in 2016
There is an argument for wanting a double daily connection to Heathrow, but LHR is so full there is no chance of this happening before 2025 or whenever R3 is completed. Looking at the routes that were served from MME in 2007, the vast bulk were beach and leisure destinations - ie producing little or no inward investment or economic boost into the area.
Teesside as an area suffers hugely from overall deprivation; the credit crunch since 2008 has not been kind at all. Is a barely used airport really the best way for regeneration or is there something else that could or should be done to the area to boost the economy ?

Teesside isn't short of brown field sites, so the "global connectivity" provided by KLM is probably of more strategic importance to the region than any other alternate use for the site.
If you read the local media industrial planning is up, new power stations, chemical plants and a new fertilizer mine with deep sea port terminal. Car parts industry is up, but that doesn't produce many outbound flights. Tees Valley looks brighter than the rest of the North East, we will also soon have a new mayor to splash some cash!! The Steel industry has produced a number of brownfield sites, the obvious one at Redcar but there are others like a massive scrapyard in Stockton which has decided to give up.

Hi SWBKCB
I have used your KLM "global connection", but it lacks flexibility. Due to delays I was forced to nightstop in Holland as I had no alternate means to get home.
Plus no cost advantage over global connecting using a direct flight from U.K.

Every form of transport has its advantages/disadvantages, but at the least you have the choice at present.
The point that I was making is that DTVA has something to offer the region that the many other brown field sites don't.
