Interesting, they talk about keeping the Weston staff but they do a similar job to what the airport Duty Manager used to do. In these quiet times I don't see how they can sustain them.

Is it just at DTV. Wonder what is happening at the others places they have an operation?

Think there's a Weston at Doncaster. Anyone got any comments?

Probably not the first time the name has been used. I found a company registered at LBA!

As far as success is concerned all they need to do is drop manual handling charges.

Might be a bit more to it than that - I'd be concerned about the overall level of demand. The Newcastle situation referred to above was a bit more complex than just prices (but then these things usually are)

And yes, it is a different Consort Aviation and there is a Weston operation at DSA - will be a interest to see if they follow suit (and if not why not?)

Presumably TUPE is behind the discussions with Weston staff?

Ah..really can't see that as surely the plan is to make as much money as possible?
So it goes something like this I guess

Supply monopoly on fuel...charge what they like..tough..
Supply monopoly on landing fees and keep all of it..i.e. No cut to Weston
Supply monopoly on mandatory handling...

Equals no cuts to a middle man(like Weston) and all revenue is there to keep.

Welcome to the PEEL new world

The idiot is just grabbing headlines because he wants electing, Peel wouldn't entertain him if he did make an offer

Robert-Ryan you know he is an idiot how? Seems that it's a popular move according to the vote option on the papers website.
Also I know it's slim chance they would sell with all that land but how do you know they won't entertain the idea?

No doubt it is popular but he's a politician doing what politicians do best...grabbing headlines for no reason other than he needs the publicity. Peel won't entertain the idea because as you say the land is too important to them and I can't imagine he would be able to afford Peels presumably sky high valuation of it all.

I second that "he's an idiot" not got a clue, how much of the 15 million is he willing to gamble and for how many years until he can get a return.
