Thanks Tiger..had a good look through the figures but can't find any mention of the significance of the DTV operation and the revenue generated by the flights?

I was merely providing some balance to the Cobham article which equally has no mention of the airport. If people link to negative articles with only a passing link to MME, it is surely only fair to post positive ones?

I agree, the Cobham and KLM results are equally relevant to DTVA

AF-KLM making 4.2 % margin on revenue in a good year is not a business I'd want to own................

Thats more a problem with AF rather than KLM. AF has a margin of 2.4% which drags the group down. KL should have merged with BA all those years ago...

Oil prices have been favourable but AF needs some serious restructuring and the unions won't take kindly to that.

Yeah but every Anglo-Dutch "merger" seems to finish up with the Dutch having 60% and the British 40%..................... ask Shell or Unilever........... BA weren't so dumb

BA wanted a 100% takeover but KLM was concerned about losing control of traffic rights.

The merger that went through was more or less an AF takeover as the combined company was valued at 81% AF and 19% KL.

Whether you like it or not Skylive 16 was a critical and commercial success, display teams are only just starting to announce their schedules so give the poor sods half a chance! At the end of the day a little bit of something is better than a whole lot of nothing!

R-R, agreed - the north is a bit of desert for any sort of air display, so good luck to them

Air Show
I see Skylive are starting to surface for air again - the RAF have announced the Typhoon will be displaying on May 28th (the only other RAF act to announce their schedule is the King Air display in which DTVA did not feature).

Theoretically, an organisation such as the RAF would vet Skylive before committing their assets to them, therefore dismissing the general public's lack of confidence - or would they just grab the cheque??

I feel you're trying to use that against me yet it only serves to back-up my argument??

This reminds me of what happened at Newcastle a few years ago...it was Samson Aviation Inthink, who were true aviation people and who attracted traffic, fuel stops, deliveries etc.
The airport took it in house, raised all prices and suddenly all 'extra' traffic that had been attracted disappeared.

Interesting times ahead...PEEL. Now dictate fully on the airport.
