(yes, 1971, the year when the UK used shillings and there were 240 pence to a pound)
They weren't pence, they were pennies

And there was me thinking the thread had been allowed to die.

Beafer, Peel are legally obliged to attend Wednesday's meeting, and I would think they would be there even if they weren't.

I as much as anyone want the airport back so here's hoping for approval.

If you were going to LBA/NCL had missed the connection at AMS (or LHR/CDG for that matter) you would have had the same problem. The flight timings are pretty much the same for the first and last flights.

Cannot believe no-one has mentioned today's news...the fallout on social media and elsewhere has been much less than you'd think as well.

Crystal Ball anyone??

No postings? It's called Apathy!

Bit like Brexit...no one really knows what is going to happen, when or how and what effect it will really have on DTV?

People on this thread get their jollies off on criticising, taunting and otherwise sticking the knife in at each opportunity, so if anything there should be 101 posts about it

Probably the only surprise is that it went to the casting vote. Only other points of note I've seen are Peel saying there still losing £200K a month and Doris reporting that Peel say it will take 5 years to build then houses - from memory Peel are selling the land to the house builders, so presumably the money from this can be spent on developing the rest of the Masterplan sooner than that. Hasn't Doris spent many years trying to stifle the airports development??

Doris is the main reason why the airport is how it is!

Guessing I know, but how much do you think Peel will get for the housing land?

So just say it's £10 million......Do they get the cash up front? Or in instalments as and when developers cough up.
So just say up front...best scenario as straight away £10 million ploughed into infra structure..or..do they say well that's 2.5 million for the last two and next two yeas losses?
Or
In instalments over the 4 years(?) of housing developments...so that's 2.5 million per year..oh great that equates to our losses so we(Peel) get our money back..result no annual loss......but unfortunately..no money for investment?

It's going to be interesting,is it not?

A bit like the investments they made when they bought the place?

Certainly the publicly stated intention has been to use the money from the housing to fund the development of the rest of the Masterplan - e.g. this quote from the Echo

Committee members were told by airport owners, Peel Airports, that all profits from the development would be invested back into the airport that is currently generating losses of £200,000 per month.
Again - not clear if this includes covering the onging losses? Itwould be interesting to know if any conditions have been or can be added to the planning permission - where's our eye-witness reporter?

I originally heard £30m, but £25m seems to be getting thrown around a lot more now. I also heard a lump sum up front followed by instalments but I don't know how accurate any of that is?

Debts..

My fear is that a lot of the income from development will be used to prop up the debts and not develop DTV??
Oh where is CO et al to offer some positive spin....

The first people to moan about aircraft noise will be the new home owners who will buy these houses. The fact that the airport was there first will not be considered.

One of the arguments for the housing is that other airports have more of them and closer to the action, so I don't think this will be any more of a problem than at other airports?

Off the top of my head I can't think of any new build housing which as near or nearer - but there again they should know what they are buying. However, the size and location of the planned housing surely limits the use of the terminal to not much above the current levels (e.g. parking)

Also, typical DTVA timing?

Quick update from my flight to AMS this morning. The airside gents WC refurbishment has been completed and the airport now has some acceptable toilets. The ladies refurbishment is now underway.
