Mr Mac
Unfortunately the LH flight is not convenient from Spain to Kazakhstan, as it requires a night stop both ways. I still prefer the BA flight, it also leaves at a decent time of the day.

BA shooting itself in the foot again. Not a new article, but doesn't seem to have been picked up on here yet...

Time for me not to chase the Avios and go with the best service/product.

Yes, very disappointing. Nothing wrong with enhancing business and first class perks, but not by screwing everyone else.

Yesterday new route LGW - Seville was launched. The aircraft was specially welcome at the arrival, around 19:10 pm, in a beautiful evening. Inaugural flight was 95% lf, with plenty of journalists from British media.

Unfortunately, that is how corporates think these days. Everything is short term results and don't worry about the long term results.
Further, it does tell us how IAG see the brand going.

BA needs to 'Buck Up'
Flew to Mia & back BA Club Class in Dec '14. My how the mighty have fallen. I've traveled Club on a number of long haul flights in the past, & my first experiences were pretty good, but the airline has been cutting back & reducing the quality of the product year by year.
Having now experienced the competition's business products with Emirates, American, US Air & Continental, I can say I now prefer them to BA. My experience in Dec with BA was appalling. The a/c (an old 747) was a bit shabby, the food was dreadful & meagre in portion size & the entertainment was only appropriate for 10 years ago.
I was astonished that their profits were reported to have doubled this yer, but then realised that this was probably due to the fact they're ripping off their business travelers on most flights.
If Willie Walsh keeps going down this road, the middle East airlines are going to have him for breakfast!
I feel sorry for the excellent staff who operate BA flights. They work hard, but Mr. Walsh is going to make their jobs less secure if he doesn't smell the coffee.

The 747s are their way out and 18 of them are due to get new IFE systems and a general spruce up from August of this year.
MIA will also be operated with the A380 from later this year.

For the sake of accuracy I guess I should point out that Willie's running IAG, the business decisions at BA are down to Keith Williams and the BA Board.

(Please note I'm not saying I disagree with your sentiments)

I realise Willie Walsh isn't at the BA helm these days, but it's his business philosophy that prevails by the look of things. I flew under the BA banner (for a franchise operator) years ago & one was proud to be associated with a quality airline. I just hope that the hard won reputation that BA has built up over the years isn't being gradually sacrificed in the race to maximum profit.
The change to a 380 on the Miami route would certainly be an improvement, as obviously seats, entertainment etc. would be much improved, but there's only so much cheese you can pare off a pizza before it ceases to be a pizza, & that's mainly where the problem lies, I think.

If they could afford to keep costs as high and make the required ROI they would. The likes of Qatar, Emirates and Etihad have a far superior product as they can reign in excessive labour costs filed under "unions" and er "basic human rights". No legacy European or US carrier can beat them at that game. Hence the hard product is pared back yoy to keep profits where they need to be to make any activity worthwhile. Sad but true.
On short haul, the locos just keep gnawing away at market share, trading is tough.
The market has changed since Landor and Lord King's day.

Skipness says it right. The attitiude is not Walsh or any individual - it is the colective view of Western Style Capitalism - as currently practised. It used to be different and it will be different in the future but it is what it is.
Hence the long held views of many in these forums that more legacy mergers will happen. The KLM/AF did not achieve the econmies of scale that it should, others will try and do it better, I surmise.

It appears that BA are on a path to get rid of their Frequent Flyers who chose the lowest fares. Having already announced that Avios allocations are being greatly reduced they have come up with another sneaky beauty that applies to all including all Executive Club members. At present even Bronze members may choose their own seat for free at least a week in advance of their flight but.....
Please note that for bookings made from 26 March 2015 British Airways will allocate a seat for all customers booking an HBO (Hand Baggage Only) low fare on a short haul flight with us.
When travelling on these great value fares, your seat will be allocated when check-in opens. Should you wish to change your seat you can pay to do so at that time or alternatively pay to reserve a seat when you book your flight. If you are travelling with an infant on an HBO fare your seat will continue to be allocated at the time of booking. The changes apply to all Executive Club Members booking HBO fares
Bit by bit they are chipping away.

Left years ago as have many others. However I will have a flight with them later this year down to East Africa with a London based client who will not use ME3, or Kenyan, as he "likes to fly the flag". So in November I will be in T5 having a nosey to see if they have improved, and later in Nairobery hopefully with bags !.
