A/c operates LGW-GLA-SZG & v.v.
WOW! You learn something new every day.

Want to try this. In CE would you get two sets of meals?

I don't see why not - after all you'd have bought two separate tickets.

When I said the aircraft operates LGW-GLA-SZG, I wasn't implying that it was a through flight with the same flight number (it isn't).

Awww. I'd imagine Gatwick passengers wouldn't take kindly to their little detour. Interesting that the BA2xxx flight number remains even though the GLA-SZG flight is clearly designed to be a separate, er, thing.

BA2xxx is used for all the BA leisure routes ex LGW. It's a Gatwick based aircraft which operates as one of the domestic shuttles before flying to SZG and back. I think it's BA2664/2665.

I accept that BA2xxx flights generally operate from LGW it is interesting that BA2xxx flights are also used on the BA Cityflyer services between LCY and GVA, and that is not primarily a leisure route.

What is the status of the 744's that are in storage? Are they to be scrapped, retired or sold on?

Just having a thought about the IAG thing and swapping new orders etc between BA EI and IB in the next few years.

EI will once again lease in a 767 for the 12 week summer months from Omni.

Could the job not be done as easily and more cheaply with an all white BA 744 with a BA flight crew?

All the 744 that gave left have been retired/scrapped....will not be coming back.
Most are at Victorville, two are at Cardiff.

Interesting.

British Airways tops 'superbrand' poll for third year | The Week UK

British Airways remains the brand that resonates most strongly with a British public largely unmoved by the rise of the US technology giants.

For the third year running, International Consolidated Airline Group's flagship carrier topped a "superbrand" list compiled by the Centre for Brand Analysis, which is based on interviews with 2,500 consumers. The compilers, says The Guardian, whittle down 1,600 brands to a long-list that is then voted on by the public, who are asked to rate each name on "quality, reliability and distinction".

This could be quite contentious amongst the respective unions of IAG airlines.

It's always been a principle of IAG that each airline has its own operations and manages its own industrial relations. IAG airlines subcontracting work to other group airlines is likely to be seen as a means of IAG playing different airlines off against each other.

Just received an email from BA. They are going to wet lease a 737-700 from Jet Time to operate a number of short haul services between LHR, ABZ, EDI, GLA and CPH this summer.

Interesting, but Jet Time don't currently have any B738s. Think 142 seaters must be B733 or B737.

Unhappy BA Constant route and time changes

I note with interest the constant additions and alterations to BA's network. Obviously, this is done for very good business and operational reasons. However, for the second year running my wife and her elderly Aunt's holiday flight has again been radically changed resulting in (yet again) another stay and late booking (and additional expense) at a Gatwick hotel. Their original flights to Verona (BA2596 at 13.20) on 13th July has now been changed to BA 2596 (!) at 06.40. Obviously, the corresponding return flights have been made earlier too. This is the second time BA has done this. My wife now hates BA and I will have great difficulty in getting her on another flight of theirs. I am already looking forward to my next flight with them, thankfully I am going alone!

Looking for help with a particular aspect of the BA website (a big ask, I know!)

The problem is that I am currently down route in Oz and no access to the Flying Club helpline. Also, after I found the problem, the regular BA helpline here had closed for the day, so hope to get some overnight help.

I need to book an additional Oz internal flight, using BA Avios on QF. The BA website naturally says that they do not serve the route (SYD-PER) but their help pages tell me I can select 'partners' to get the other options (QF). BUT, the option to select partners is nowhere to be found. I spent 45 minutes on many, many pages and help pages but could not find how to book this route with Avios.

In the UK, I had been able to. Any suggestions or links most welcome. Thanks.

Using Skype you can call any open call center. Try uk or USA etc as any are now able to help with these sorts of things.

I got the same email about Jet Time but when I checked my booking online both flights still saw BA, and they are not in the list above. They are BA1435 on a Monday and the BA1438 on a Sunday.

Does anyone know what happens to pre-booked seat allocations in this situation? The seats were booked on a B767 but that will have to change if Jet Time are operating them.

Not too bothered, just curious.

Paxboy, go onto BA.com and login using your BA Exec Club membership number and password.

Select the Executive Club tab at the top, click on Spending Avios and then enter on reward flights. Put in your dates and routing and the availability will show up.
