That is just ludicrous. I was writing in a notebook in another language on my flight from Newcastle to Dubai, so what exactly is the problem? As mentioned before, it should be noted to the people in the report and newspaper itself, as I just have, that the language of Iran is not Arabic but is Farsi (Persian).

It is absolutely ridiculous, would that kid have had a panic attack if they had been writing in Spanish? French? Russian? I somehow doubt it... I agree that the child, or family of the child should get charged.

Unfortunately people seem to panic or seem to get scared about any vaguely Arabic passengers now... robes + long beards can really set things off.

I flew DXB-DOH-DXB and on DXB-DOH, we were the only 3 "western people" on the flight, and it was packed to the rafters and on DOH-DXB it was about 65-75% full and there about 20-30 "westerners."

I felt a hell of a lot more comfortable on that DXB-DOH flight than I ever do flying on the chav charters that dominate NCL... And the EZY stag night express to and from AMS would be no different IMHO. I am VERY angry at that person it is just ridiculous and ignorant.

But back to aviation good to see an extra EWR charter, that'll be 4 flights this year, I hope they keep the Easter ones on.

An excellent perspective and I felt the same when I used to fly a lot on PIA from Peshawar in the North West Frontier to various points in Pakistan. When I flew Syrian Arab from Aleppo the feeling was the same.

Whilst the kid has had a panic attack for what is a silly reason, he has had a panic attack at the end of the day, he had no control over that whatsoever. Once this happens on an aircraft, certainly whilst it's still on the deck, that PAX is going to get off loaded - and it perhaps didn't help matters that he was in a large group. To say he, or his parents should be charged is a little extreme in my opinion - not too sure what they could be charged with? It's just a very unfortunate situation.

Does anybody know the load factors on the BA 747 and Virgin A340 that diverted in the other day.

Just curious how Newcastle handled circa 400 off the 74 and 300 off the 340 at short notice.

EK123 looks like it's here at NCL. Any reason why?

Exactly what I thought. It was on the board earlier as EK123 Newcastle. I think it said 15.25 if I remember correctly!

Definitely only had the EK36 in today! Can only assume that it must have been some sort of glitch on the departure board!

Another New York flight....28th October, making 4 for the winter and 5 for the year. Is this a scheduled New York flight by creeping stages??? another 20 years and it could be weekly.

Great news...

All about demand from the north east.

It's great to see that the airport are working with jet2 to show that there is a demand for these New York shopping trip.

Hopefully the airlines that the airport need will see the figures and the market research that is being done and hopefully one day New York may become a regular flight..

It will be interesting what the April flight carries as this is new.

I wonder how much money these flights make the airport and jet2.

I wonder if they could get jet2 next year to maybe do weekly flights to New York from nov 2015 march 2016 if we still haven't got regular flights as this would be a real test to see if they can fill them

Hope this post doesn't start another riot of replies

TBH I'd far rather go to New York than to Dubai - and I'm sure it might work but it has to be a damn efficient operation

hopefully one day New York may become a regular flight..
There used to be a market for economy trips to NYC on a non daily basis, however the huge growth of legacy long haul connectivity killed that stone dead. Why pay a premium to fly on an old American Trans Air TriStar once a week when BA/KLM offer multiple daily frequencies on a more comfortable product.
A weekly shopping flight is all economy, a daily offering would demand a better balance of business and leisure. In terms of the UK, EDI has huge inbound market presence, GLA less so but still high and MAN has a lot of business it terms of the leading regional airport. BHX just has a single UA flight to Newark and LGW can't hang onto a single JFK as LHR being so close just kills it, less so but similar for BHX.

IIRC were there not CO routes operated with B757s between EWR and BRS, BFS, BHX, MAN, EDI and GLA (but not NCL)?

Am I right in thinking LS operated three Xmas shopping trips in previous years with the only new addition this year being the trip in April?

Will these New York flights have to make a tech stop somewhere?
