Flown from Manchester and Heathrow on Tunisair a few times this past six months through work and have to say I hope to god they use a newer aircraft, the 735 and A300 were in a right old state!

It appears to be operated by A320, so not sure how old they are?

The metro is fast, frequent, cheap reliable and safe. Unfortunate as it is, this kind of incident is rare and metros six hour notice period is 1/4 that of comparable systems.

I see Kuwait Airways have a 747 in at NCL currently. When was the last time they operated the Jumbo into NCL?

Its the almost yearly money flight from the local printing firm. Kuwait airways have sent all sorts of craft over the years. One got stuck one year when the wind turned and it couldn't take off due to the high ground on the 07 end.

I'm hoping that the airport will get some of the £20m Regional Airport Connectivity Fund, which is intended to encourage new routes from regional airports.

Regional Airport Connectivity Fund

Seen it reported that only available to airports with less than 3m pax, so maybe not.

Osborne mentioned Liverpool John Lennon as a potential beneficiary. If 3 million is the limit he doesn't know his own policy.

The Chancellor actually in his speech.

"......and because we want all parts of our country to see better links with the markets of the future, we're going to provide start-up support for new routes from regional airports, like Liverpool, Leeds or indeed, Inverness"

I took that as meaning they are going to revisit and expand the scheme.

Just been reading a comment from Birmingham Airport who were expressing disappointment that it wouldn't cover airports such as theirs. However, reading the CAA report on the original scheme it does say that airports such as Newcastle could be considered in exceptional circumstances.
