Infratil April Report
(Kent International handled 3,025 tonnes of freight in April - an improvement of 820 tonnes and 37% ahead of the prior April total of 2,205 tonnes.

All scheduled freight carriers improved on their prior year performance while the number of air traffic movements increased by 17% compared with April 2007. The Airport is bracing for a reduction in May as a number of MK Airlines flights are scheduled for mainland Europe Airports.)

I notice that a MK in this morning from Egypt and a loaded one out on monday to Perth au.
Things are much inproved on last year at this time.

Since when have they been flying anywhere but Kenya?

Perth sounds a bit luxurious for something here in Kent?

welcolme back catflaps

Ah catflaps, Most people when comparing statistics need a like for like comparison to work to. It is no use comparing the sale of Christmas trees in January with the sale of tree in December, there would be an obvious difference. It is therefore quite sensible to compare April 2007 with April 2008 and not to try and compare April 2008 with March 2008. i am really not quite sure what your posting is suggesting, are you saying that you think you have discovered a trend?

I couldn't care if they were comparing them with Invicta Airways cargo figures as long as flights continue to operate in and out of Manston that's OK with me. So freight figures are down a bit due to seasonal variations or whatever, so what, they'll rise again at which time I presume you will come on here to offer your congratulations?

Perhaps air freight operators would be looking to reduce the fuel bill by operating to an airfield with minimum routing / holding / taxiing / turn around times ??

You can look at the figures anyway you like but at the end of the day what you are all talking about are crumbs. An airport that has virtually no air transport movements. A place to retire to if you like the quiet life. This is not a criticism as the airport has passionate supporters here but it is like supporting a non league football team that has aspirations to get into the football league but never quite makes it. A sleepy hollow that time has forgotten.

Add to that the Dakota arriving at 18:20. Its a shame the weather prevented appearences by other aircraft.

Was this the Kallita 747 that used to sit near the control tower at MSE?

How strange

Kallita 747 Ac N704CK

The aircraft has been observed at Manston a number of times, the last being March this year, when it was flying under MK flight numbers.

I suspect it will not be visiting again, having seen images of the incident.

Whatever "holding up" means? Isn't this thread getting a bit spotterish?
