It so easy to say Sadly, the "bit of good news" about Manston is mostly without substance.
Down-beat comments from amateur locals are fine, but professionals should look at the year on year growth in cargo and the investment at the Airport.

Passengers-
Kent Escapes have cut services this year. They had major problems last year were the root cause this years cut back.
Newmarket are operating 10 return charter flights, which is a lot more than last year.
Jersey flights new this year.

Cargo-
I look at the growth in tonages.

The car park was full with EUJET and I am sure it will be again.

You and I must have been at the same LDF meeting in Broadstairs. Seems that some people had a different view?

If Morrisons are going down the enviromental road then fresh produce flown in from Kenya is great for them, the carbon footprint for fresh produce grown in Kenya and flown to the UK is far smaller than if the produce was grown here out of season (heating costs, polytunnels ect) the Kenya operation is suprisingly green, due to the mass of man power avaliable for packing ect, as well as the natural sunlight/heat.

I notice that MK are now flying in two flights some days, no sign of them pulling out.
Just more flights coming in.

I tell you: you die.

If you look over the airport fence there are signs that work is soon to start on improving E apron and its related taxiways.

I would have thought that Manston is a bit too far away from Dover port & the tunnel. As for lorry parking to service the MSE freight centre, Echo apron might be the wrong side of the fence.

I need a break fromthe EUJET/MK/PAX/CARGO/bitch/deedave/catflaps/EUJET/MK cycle:

Was exploring the possibility of flying into airshows with air atlantique this summer when i discovered their fleet is considering a move out of COVENTRY down to MSE or up country to Doncaster?.
Any thoughts?

Secondly, this Vulcan business.
are we talking permanently or just a one day public stint?

Unless Coventry is closing I cannot imagine for a moment that any part of AAG will be leaving the Midlands, the sheer logistics of such a proposal will be monumentally expensive and why would they want to leave a base where they, for the most part, call shots as regards their operations and how much they pay.

Reguards AA(HF), I believe the may have been looking around, for a place to open abit of a museum. But I hadn't heard manston was in the running. re Doncaster do you mean Doncaster or Robin Hood ?

& Lets forget "Vulcan to the Skys" and start are "Vulcan to Manston" campain

P.S They certain don't call the shots anymore at Coventy. I'm sure the owners in the past where trying to lose those loud 'piston planes'. But that has before TUI desided to implode.

air atlantic may not be around for long if the E.U. wasters have their way, new regulations governing the fitting of emergency chutes and other safety measures would ground the fleet (there was an article in the telegraph some weeks ago)
as for the Vulcan maybe we could see pleasure flights around the island for a small donation to the fund ! the ejector seats would have to be dissarmed though or the pre-flight training would be too expensive!

seriously though, the Vulcan may make a stop over for the Biggin Hill Air Show. it would be great to see it again ( book your place by the fence now folks) the last time i saw it fly was at the manston air show, to see it power off the runway mid-way and dip down toward the sea at sandwich was a sight to behold. they dont make em like that anymore.

as for pax flights at manston, it looks like we are stuck with the odd charter, no serious company ( ryanair, easy etc ) has any interest. or are they waiting a suitable length of time in the hope that we all forget the past ????
i would like to see another scheduled carrier, not only for jobs, but for the convienience, but i wont hold my breath. hey ho, onwards and upwards
(or not)

air atlantic is spelt with a Q.

The new EU reg will only effect the DC3 .

And I wouldn't rush to get your place by the fence at Biggin. or manston..
