it was passing around Twi**er for nearly 20 hours. To read the story and the unfolding events is nothing less than shocking and disgraceful. As 'Leo' the blogger has been advised legally not to speak anymore of it and to remove the blog I'm figuring he's taking a case.

Good for him. Aer Arann will have to clean up their act. Very badly handled. Aer Lingus should be asking questions about it.

Miguel Saez Sanchez, Aer Lingus Flight Attendant, Fighting Dismissal Over Pot Brownies

Diet pills, vodka and a pot brownie gets someone suing for unfair dismissal.

Strange case.

Wonder what the outcome of that case was, it was reported last year with it cropping up again in April as the verdict was just weeks away but we're in July now and it hasn't been reported about since.

Regarding the Aer Arann/EI Regional flight, at first I was shocked by his story and couldn't believe what I was reading but there are two sides to every story and the blogger says he came from Glastonbury which is messy in more ways than one, he also admits to drinking before and during the flight and says there was an issue with the FA asking him to turn his mobile off yet there are photos taken from his friends mobile during the flight. I think a few details are probably missing but it's still concerning if that's the way this FA treats other passengers.

You could be right, but I'm pretty sure his original blog post said they had been doing the tourist thing all day before the flight and as he was driving the rental car, the only drink he had taken was 2 whiskeys on board the aircraft.

Mad story all the same.

EI have a 1 million seat sale and it has being a while since we seen that.
The volume of discounted seats/inventory is somewhat irrelevant in many respects.

We have seen sustained discounting on Aer Lingus T/A and Euro flights since the mid-part of Q1, 2009. That's something that will continue for quite some time to come, given the current state of the domestic economy and the persistent contraction of disposable incomes. Whilst the deep discounts of 2009 have since faded - fare levels remain well off their peaks - especially on T/A flights, which is really no harm considering just how expensive they had become - with, at the time (Pre-2009) a generally inferior hard product.

A319 For Aer Lingus

Aer Lingus 1st 319 seen on delivery flight to DUB this afternoon. Looks fantastic:
Yes it looks great. Question is though. How come it's being delivered now? Is it going into service immediately with Aer Lingus? I thought it was next year along with four others. Why have it delivered now all painted up if it's not? Couldn't Iberia use it as a back up in case they have a technical fault with one of their other A319's?

" New Routes " from Cork

The new routes include Cork Rome and Cork Barcelona which have been operating since 2005 apart from Winter 2010/11. I suppose the end justifies the means as the spin has resulted in attractive press releases being reported almost verbatim in the local media!

Let's hope that people from the South of the Country support these routes as they do present the opportunity for a City Break in reasonably pleasant weather.

Because these aircraft were leased by Iberia from RBS and their leases have come to an end. The question really should be why are EI not operating these aircraft if they are paying to lease them now? Possible reasons, in no particular order, not enough pilots, awaiting termination of lease/sale of some of the older 320/321 aircraft, got such a good deal, they couldnt pass it up etc.

"The A/C is probably on a non operational lease until it goes into active service and being used as what we called a "hot spare" until they include it in their schedule. They would likely be paying a much lower lease rate than if they were using the A/C so in the grand scheme of things its possibly just loose change to them. The lease will change to an operational lease once they start using the A/C and then they will be billed accordingly." courtesy of Delta Kilo, on boards.ie

But i tend to believe that this is what is actually happening.

1) when will check in be available for further routes?
2) will there be an e-barcode sent to your iphone etc so that it's completely paperless, just like BA? most airport IT systems can handle this now

EI352 DUB/MUC cancelled this morning. No sign of activity anywhere near aircraft, making me speculate crew issue? One very cross Noxegon...
