The new Isle of Man-Newquay-Jersey route seems to end this Saturday. Glasgow-Newquay also appears to have been cut back in flights.

Dash 8 Deliveries

To update my recent post, msn 4206 is now at Toronto (YYZ) in FlyBE colours, wearing Canadian reg. C-FPEX but with "OD" over the cockpit window. I assume delivery may be imminent.

BE1431/BE1432 GLA-CWL-CDG-CWL-GLA Rotations have also been dropped for a length of time on certain days.

two Aer Arann AT7 operating for Flybe at the moment.

Origional reason for Lease is due to delay in delivery of Dash 8's. There maybe other reason too.

Bit off current topic but what would the more knowledgeable of you think of a NQY-EXt-BHX as a viable route. I am aware of a large local population near EXT who would jump at the chance of that route

If you check their website, they have an on-line timetable.

(You will see ABZ-NCL flights are scheduled until only 29th June).

I have not kept the CAA figures and I am not sure if they go back
that far online.

However if I remember correctly it was the same old story, great loads
Monday morning, Thursday and Friday evening (usually NEC exhibition related) and the rest of the times quite low.

I can remember quite a few fours and fives but it also hit the low to mid twenties on the days mentioned above.

It would probably need to be double daily and as a Q400 there is no chance, as a via (such as NQY-EXT) it would probably not work either
and once a day would be extremely risky.

I suppose in this business you should never say never as airlines tend to
surprise you and this one would certainly be a surprise.

Thanks for your informative reply. My interest comes from the large portion of South Devon who come from or have relatives in the Midlands. But I can fully understand that good loads would probably only happen when exhibtions are on.

Many thanks and lets wait and see (although could be a long wait!)

TIMETABLE CANCELLATIONS

Just to add another possible reason for the June cutbacks. In their CAA application for charter of an Aer Arran ATR 72 for the summer they state the reason as extra capacity needed to cover crew shortages.

Remember a lot of these Q400s are to replace the EMB145. The one for one replacement means the numbers of routes/hulls should stay the same and if properly managed the increase in capacity can be contained by massaging the rotations where necessary.

Flybe are also wise enough to know that leaving an aircraft on the ground for a while is cheaper than flying it about nearly empty just to keep the utilisation figures high....pity BA didn't figure this out......

The way things are going, they might be the only airline left this time next year.......

I used the Birmingham to Exeter flight and I think on most occasions it was 15 to 20 pax. I would add that I think there was only one or so passenger other routing BHX EXT. The others were all connecting passengers to Belfast or Scotland. The flight was in the days before direct services from Exeter to Belfast/Glasgow.

Very few BHX EXT passengers I'm afraid. It was a hub type operation for Exter originating pax that became no longer required.

Come on flybe...

Lets get the EDI/GLA - LGW flts started, and also EDI/GLA - LCY... Long overdue and to be honest, I think BA might just agree that you should be doing them

Why on earth would you want FlyMayBe on those routes- particularly the full service lucrative LCY route. Come on.....

I've very recently joined Flybe as a low-houred bod from one of those expensive FTO's.

The talk here seems to suggest Flybe are having difficulties (although not as many as other airlines!).

Given the organisation is keen to operate a LIFO approach in the event of further difficulties............ should I be concerned? I was of the impression that out of all the airlines that currently exist in the UK today - Flybe would be one of the survivors of the recent problems but reading this rumour mill, I am now less certain....

FlyBe have just increased the anciliary costs - preassigned seating from £5 to £6 (+20%), prebooked baggage from £5.99 to £7.99 (+30%). Indeed for my most recent booking my bags cost more to travel than I did! There seems to be only a modest increase (typically £5 per sector) to the flexible fares. All not suprising given fuel costs.

But what I find puzzling is their online booking only runs to end October 2008. Even accepting uncertainty over costs going forward, why would any airline shut off cashflow in this way?

And the publicity machine at JW House seems to have gone somewhat silent. After being "bowled over" three times by route success (INV/SOU and INV/MAN on 20 May, JER/LGW on 16 May, IOM/BHX 8 May) we've seen nothing since 20 May, which is a long time in the PR world. Annual holidays for the whole department, or a lack of good news?

Not knocking FlyBe here - with my location I need them!
