XL Airways

The "Monarch" flight from Rhodes into BFS at 8pm tonight is now delayed till 1700 tomorrow. I wonder did the Lte 320 go tech in RHO (as suggested by BBC) or was it a different aircraft today?

Either way, BBC report a totally different machine to be brought in tomorrow to replace it.

I'm sure Monarch wish they hadn't got involved

747-200 BFS Today?

I hear a rumour that the delayed MON385R will now be operated by a 747-200 possibly from Hellenic Imperial Airways instead of the sub chartered 757-200 that was planned for yesterday.

The aircraft is not airborne but planned ETA for BFS 1650z

Had friends going out on the Newark this morning. Text me from the airport to say this mornings Lanzarote (presumably the FCA) turned back an hour into the flight so landed back n BFS 2 hours after departure.
Anyone have any more information?? Is the aircraft tech??
The 07.00 FCA departure is still on the departures screen on the airport website, but the inbound 16.10 showing estimated 16.10...

Would appear that indeed FCA has had a bit of a tech issue at BFS yesterday. The Arrecife that was ment to get in at roughly 16.10 yesterday, now arriving 16.25 today and todays Naples flight due in at 14.40, now estimating 18.30.
Anyone aware of sub aircraft coming in, presume one of these flights will be on a sub chartered aircraft?? Anyone see or get pictures of the Hellenic Imperial in yesterday from Rhodes??

Greece is very sparse from BFS next year, with XL pulling out (before collapse), First Choice/Thomson not operating to Greece, and Thomas Cook pulling Rhodes, Zakynthos, and cutting Corfu to Peak June/July only. Only Heraklion served all season!!!, so it would appear.

Hellenic 747 didn't appear till 10pm after a further delay. Out to GLA at 11.35pm.
I understand Thomsonfly subchartered for First Choice yesterday... 737 perhaps?

i see ryanair have now cut their bhd-stn flights from 5 daily certain days to now 3. I love how they quitely axed the flights, if it had of been aer lingus ohh god they would have led into them big time and go on and on how they are so much better blah blah blah.....

Im now starting to understand people about their lack of customer service.... They didnt even email me to say a flight im on was cancelled and now dont know if we can go on our break to milan.... i now know why so many people hate ryanair and i think i may be becoming one of them!!!

Funny you should mention that about FR, a guy at the office was on the last flight back to BHD from STN. The flight was diverted to BFS due to fog, he told me that he was dumped at Aldergrove with no bus to take him to BHD. I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't put a bus on, would that be the case? Well anyway he says he will never use them again.

The STN sector being dropped may be operated by a STN based a/c and with the "parking up" of a/c at STN there probably isn't one available to do the sector. Also I think this was the lightest sector in terms of passenger nos.

Also noticed that PIK is up to 2X daily with 3X on M, W & F - seems strange as passenger nos on this route haven't been that encouraging so far.

Belfast Airport Frequencies-Winter Schedule

I was doing a little tot of frequencies on all scheduled routes from Belfast City & Aldergrove and the numbers are very interesting.

Total weekly Departures per week Belfast City 383
Total weekly Departures per week Belfast International 391
(this takes a typical no. of flights on each route in Nov/Dec)

City Airport Weekly schedule Departures by Airline
Flybe 229
Ryanair 70
Manx2 19
Bmi 54
Aer Arann 11

Aldergrove
Easyjet 239
Aer Lingus 56
Jet2 16
bmibaby 61
Manx2 11
Continental 6
Wizz 2

I hope this is of interest!

Differences:

1. Aircraft used
2. Diversity of airlines
3. Diversity of destinations
4. Quality of airlines

You decide which airport is better at which...

Maybe I'm reading this incorrectly but I assume that MUFC fan is lauding Aldergrove at Citys expense.

1. Aircraft used - would he/she mean Ryanairs youngest fleet in Europe?
2. Diversity of airlines - 7 v's 5 when the 2 extra have less than 10 departures per week is hardly anything to crow about!
3. Divertsity of destinations - more International, granted but less British Isles regional thanks to Flybe
4. Quality of airlines - would this be BMI - the last 'full service' airline in Northern Ireland or perhaps Ryanair - consistently top rated to punctuality, minimum lost bags

I'll not even start about the convenience to the largest population centre, lower parking charges and shorter queues at security

Seems to be the weekend for BIG delays at BFS. After the First Choice tech problems of Friday/Saturday, I see Hemus' Bourgas outbound is indeffinitely delayed having been scheduled to arrive in at 3am this morning. Perhaps the crews' hours are up the left?

ILS6071 is out to Trieste, Italy... operated by Jet2 737.

Incidentally, Jet2 used a Thomson 757 to op their LS361 this morning. Strange.

Any ideas when the Bulgarian flight got away? No sign on the departures screen this morning.

Apologies.... looks like I was mis-informed.

I believe G-LSAJ is the former G-CDUP of Thomson...I think that's where the mistake was.

Bulgarian delay

Heard today that the Bulgarian aircraft had a problem with the door (not closing properly) which wasn't fixed until late yesterday evening. Passengers were put up in a local hotel before departure during the night last night.

FUA alternative

With the FUA situation still terribly recent, this may be a bit of a long shot, but does anybody have information on who will be operating the Falcon Holidays wintersun flights that FUA were scheduled to fly. I presume an operator is still being sought.

Would it be wise in the economic environment, for Falcon to take allocation on the TCX winter flights from BFS, if availability is there?? I know Lanzarote and Tenerife operate on the same days as TCX fly. TCX could try a move aircraft to operate the A321 from Belfast, rather than A320 to accomodate. Perhaps demand still justifies Falcon to operate exclusive flights.
