The Ryanair STN will impact the Easy operation out of BFS but the greatest impact will be on the bmi LHR. Fortunately, anyone operating international routes will be saved from Ryanair competition due to the short runway at City. I still think that MOL decided on city to challange Aer Lingus and because he couldn“t get anyone at BFS to talk, listen to him. Ultimately they will be at BFS as BHD will not cope, even in the medium term.

Does anyone know the loads for today's first FR flights to STN, LPL, EMA and PIK?

Oh yeah, one more thing, I'm travelling to LPL with FR next week, but am not entirly certain on their ID policy. In the T+Cs it says one can travel on a driving licence (domestically), but when you go to the Web'N'Go check in, it says a passport is required - so which to go by?
I know it's not a big deal to bring a passport, but I'd much rather just go with my driving licence, for convenience's sake..
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated,

You can use your driving licence if you check in at the desk . If you check in on-line you must quote your passport number and bring your passport with you . Apparently many a person has missed their domestic flight by checking in online with passport number and then only taking their driving licence to the airport !!

This is a very debatable statement.

I suspect that most of the really cost conscious customers have already
defected from BMI and are already flying Easyjet.
Those that have stuck with LHR have done so either because its best located for their destination in London , or they are travelling on business are not paying for their own ticket and want lounge access , Diamond points and on board service or they are connecting at LHR.

The only potential additional defectors from BMI would be those cost conscious travellers who have stuck with BMI even though the fares may sometimes be higher because BHD is better for them than BFS locationwaise.

Given the short distance between BHD and BFS , I don-t think there will be many of these .

I think BMI probably have more to fear from EI , because they are offering an alternative to those wanting to use LHR and if they are cheaper as well , there may be defectors .

Ryanair will be going after the same psgrs as EASYJET so they probably have most to lose. Flybe , to the extent they are lowcost , may also
have more to lose than BMI altho again a significant proportion of their traffic is probably destined for LGW area or connecting rather than Central LON.

The statistics for the most punctual airline on routes from belfast-london are as follows (from jan-jun)
1. CityJet
2. Air Berlin
3. Bmi
4. Easyjet
5. flybe (no suprise!)

That looks like a simple ranking rather than statistics to me. How about some numbers?

At what point are those punctuality stats taken ?

Cityjet (operated by Scot Airways) are without a doubt top for being ready to depart in my experience, always been spot on. But then ATC slot delays (presumably from down at the London City end) seem to get in the way so actual departure from BHD and moreover actual deplaning time at LCY after being vectored on a Grand Tour of Kent can be disappointing.

The roster for the aircraft is nice and relaxed so any knock-on delays are minimised, or indeed eliminated.

Add to that the top "punctual" airlines have far fewer rotations than the other airlines. It all has to be accounted for and put into perspective i say...

Why oh why can the media not get facts correct. The confusion over what can and cannot operate at BHD is absolutely unbelievable. I have read in the past day that FR are to carry 200,000 pa on these routes and 600,000 pa etc etc which is correct. Also 140 passengers permitted outbound yet we are getting 168 reported here. So is it unsafe on a flight with 168 passengers outbound!!!!. No wonder this bhd thing is going on and on between residents/planners and the management because does anybody on this planet know what the regulations/restrictions are!!!! Are games being played here for instance it was announced this week that bhd may extend the runway. Have I been dreaming or something as I thought it was announced in August, 6mths in planning and 6 mths construction and it was going to happen within a year!!!! is the £10million (apparently) to constuct it given them 2nd thoughts!!!!!

The restriction is 144 passengers INBOUND , there is none for outbound like Derry.

Question I have is how did BHD do so far with the turn-arounds etc.?

Regards

Ryanair, which is due to start flights from City Airport on Tuesday week, is subject to restrictions on the number of passengers it can carry on take-off.
Its modern Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which have 189 seats, will be permitted to carry only 140 passengers on departing flights, but will be allowed to carry a full payload inbound.

From Belfast Telegraph so who is right!!!!!!

Worked well, 25mins was met. New equipment (Air stairs, baggage trolleys, belt loaders, tugs, etc) were provided for ryanair, and 4 men per A/C. There was 2x 737-800 and 1x A320 in at the same time, which seems an unusual sight now, but I wonder what the future holds.
