Belfast City Airport has a policy that stats an airline can start but cannot operate a route that another operator operates. It called a one route policy.
Is that legally enforceable, sound like a restrictive practice to me.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if WW switched to BHD.
Certainly looking at the pax figures FR achieved on the EMA-BHD route and now the prices quoted by Flybe, there appears to be a stronger demand for this route over EMA-BFS, and I am sure WW are far from happy about Flybe gaining a foothold on "their patch" at East Midlands.

It could however be something like reduced charges to support airlines on routes not operated by any other airline. And then if a second airline comes on the route they need to pay full charges and thus endure a competitive disadvantage.

Fair point re. Openskies, but what David1994 said used to be the case, routes were on a 1st come 1st served basis, and other airlines had to respect that.. On another note, the City Airport would need some expansion work (or turn IKEA into T2), otherwise parking the WW aircraft may be a problem, so i think unlikely, but who knows :P

The 2 based Manx2 aircraft now park outside the old terminal, although they still use the main terminal parking stands during the middle of the day when there are less aircraft about

Ive a photo of 4 Ryanairs at BHD... but with the extra 4 based aircraft now (BE and NM) space is hard to come by at times of the day, hence parking the Manx2's at the old terminal, and the occasional Flybe doing the same.
I recall at BFS about 3 WW's arrive at about 8am or so, if they did this at BHD, whilst the based aircraft are still out then its ok, but its when you get the all too common delay that the problems start, and you end up parking on taxiways, as has happened with Ryanair.
Also afternoons/evenings at BHD are increasingly busy now. Expansion would be the only option if they were to move

WW has a rush of 4 flights between 0800-0900 at BFS since CWL has came back, this is repeated around 1800 Mon-Fri.. even at BFS with 17 (normally 19+F stands) stands available at the minute (some are closed due to apron repairs) space gets tight when other airlines come in at that busy time of the morning or when theres diversons or the winter delays..
i agree with flying officer kite, if WW moves (which is highly unlikely, but lets not crush the dream for some) it could get interesting once de-icing, snow and freezing fog ..decide to sweep across the airfield at BHD or any of their airports aircraft are arriving from/departing to.
looking ahead tonight at the BHD arrivals round 1800 there is a possibility for there to be 8 aircraft on the ground at once (without delays), now add another 4.. thats 12, which will be 737s.. BHD has 10 stands, well last time i was there + the area at the old terminal/menzies world cargo which isnt that big.. im not too sure, but i think some of those stands are not suitable for 737s? could be wrong..

11:00 tomorrow to be precise. bmibaby decamping at BFS and moving all to BHD. As the Bay City Rollers once said 'bye bye baby'
Would make sense to me.
Surprise move to be honest, I didnt forsee WW getting in head to head with BE...

Not the only place I have heard a new airline are starting operations at BHD. But why would Bmi Baby want to move? NO competiton at BFS but move down the road and all routes are operated by Flybe.... DOesnt make sense.
Also the airport should tread carefully, they were lucky they didnt p*** flybe off to much with the Ryanair saga, but this may just tipple Flybe over the edge and stop an future development?

Never thought that this would happen, leaves MAN & BHX right open at BFS. However never thought that FR would leave the way they did. It could very well be true, as when you scan down the booking engine for destination, it lists 'the bmibaby most popular' and the last time I looked it said Belfast Int, now it says Belfast City. This is normally the first step to disaster.

Well looks like all the signs are definately pointing towards Baby following Easy's lead moving to BHD. I never even heard a credible rumour about this until this evening...
Going to be an interesting time seeing how passenger numbers hold up on the Flybe services if Baby does couple up on the routes.
You can see the reasoning from BCA though. They spend loads on a new terminal and then Scamair bugger off and leave them with less passengers to line there pockets with gold. They probably offered Baby a deal too good to be missed.
