Seems that the substantial OHY programme has been cut from the original planned number of 10 rotations per week to only 5 - the majority of sunday flights are no longer bookable throughout the season and AYT/ADB are also not available. Unless flights for the variety of dates chosen are unavailable?? Anyone know if they've been cut?

CY/ECA

I suspect this is some kind of codeshare/mutual agreement between the 2 carriers - it does actually state on ECA website, that flight is CY, but operated by ECA, so not really a change from previous years? Have always wondered why there wasn't a scheduled CY flight ex NCL, perhaps 1/2 times per week.

Weren't Jet2 supposed to start NCL-LPA and ACE? Seems they've been removed from the booking engine.

Onur Air's (Goldtrail Charter) ADB/AYT have been cancelled from NCL, along with numerous other airports that Goldtrail serve. We got an email from Goldtrail the other day for a passenger travelling BFS-AYT to say the flight had been changed to Manchester

it is depressing to look at jet2's summer offering from ncl - now that easy have started murcia, and jet2 dropped bergen, valencia, almeria, gatwick, krakow, they are offering few destinations that cant be reached by other carriers from ncl.

this is not necessarily a criticism of jet2, but maybe just more evidence that it is only the core bucket and spade destinations that will work from ncl.

This is backed up by ryanairs experience, although some posters on here seem to think they are disinterested in ncl, it is worth remembering that they have tried - olso was extremely shortlived and yields must have been poor on bergamo for that to be discontinued. if bergamo, one of ryanairs busiest bases, cant work from ncl, what hope a base in ncl??

With Ryanair, I think that the 738 is just too big to be used from NCL for anywhere other than Dublin or sunshine destinations.

For city destinations, FlyBe have the perfect a/c sizewise in the Q400.

As for Jet2, yes, the summer offering is disappointing, but we will have to keep an eye open on them and see what happens

Some times I just wonder!, talk about 2+2=5 not!, If you had read any of the many postings regarding Jet 2's holding company's perilous financial position, then you would perhaps come to an informed opinion that has nothing what so ever with NCL & bucket & spade destinations

Charters operated by Jet2 on behalf of Olympic and jet2holidays.com begin in June ( I think) to Rhodes (RHO) and Corfu (CFU).

Provisionally RHO on a Wed and CFU on a Mon.

Although not a scheduled service it still brings passengers through NCL, which can only be good for the airport.

So love or hate Jet2, they're at least keeping a bit of trade at NCL.

skyman - you are missing my point which is that whatever jet2's financial position it is a shame that it is more profitable for them to add another daily flight to palma (where on some days there are 2 easys in addition to the charters), than for them to fly to somewhere with no competition.

That is surely a reflection on the conservatism of the core ncl passenger base.

I think you must realise that profits are not made by sale of seats alone on LoCo's.

The real revenue is made on onboard sales. This is one for Channex101 but from memory, the city destinations don't do very well.

I certainly know my girlfriend didn't make much money from commision on all the LGW's or the KRK. Businessmen and polish workers don't seem to splash out much cash!

Far better to do a short flight to PMI with very high load factors where everybody walks on and orders champagne, duty free (it amazes me why pax buy it on the WAY to Spain?), food or family packs for the kiddies etc.

Even the LPA's, so I've heard, were sold at a loss making price (probably fuel costs and lack of initial interest) on the seats alone but with a flight time of over 4 hours, if you can get 200 people to spend at least an avg of £5, it can make a bit of a difference!

When ALL airlines are suffering an economic slow down and rising fuel costs then it makes sense to cut the 'dead wood' and go with the profitabe routes.

Jet2 are also doing a series of malta charters on the 733 in the middle of the summer on behalf of malta bargains (or someone like that!)

Easyjet Winter 2008/9

Have read somewhere that Easyjet are taking 5 x737 out of service during next winter. Supposedly the 319 are more efficient
Wonder what effect this may have on NCL as a 737 base. More cuts or conversion to an Airbus base?

No cuts, just lots of 319 training courses.

LS should be looking at these 73Gs if they are to maintain the 737 in the fleet for the distant future, which I think they will.

Anybody know the customers for these a/c? Are you sure that it will be NCL first to change? Could they not be going from LTN or BFS first? I'm guessing LTN would be last due to it's size.

I thought they did at one point? A few 737 trainers even had the type rating booked but it was suddenly stopped.

Are EZ's 73's owned or leased?

Word from colleagues in Sleazy is that the fleet replacement schedule has changed, and NCL will be going 319 next year - the next base to do so.
